View single post thingy is missing

Please can we have it back

I found it very helpfull .

Hmmm...I just tried it and it seems to sorta work. Rather than a single post, however, it opens the thread up with the selected post as the top one in the window.

Like people in Blank media do scannes and link there posts
so I know which one is being talked about ( media SCAN )

We used to have this possibility as well as the ability to link to only a single post (see the thread that diane7 linked to). Now we have lost the single post linking.

Did someone upgrade the forum software and forget to update the templates to include the single-post links that have been there for years?

It's not a bug, it's a feature

We are currently upgrading several parts of the site and removing some stuff to check for possible speed/performance issues. No idea if the single post will return soon, but at least you can bring up a post with the link created now, which also works fine.

Wouldn't loading a whole page instead of loading just a single post put more, not less, load on the servers?

The problem with not having it MP|3 is when you have a page/thread full of quality scans it will not load/stop on the correct post

Especially for the dial up and slow broadband users................

Single post is a MUST when someons showing you a Scan CD/DVD ( so you know what one they talking about )

I have a folder of single posts LINKS dont help much now..

Absolutely ridiculous that this was removed. No justification for it whatsoever.

The ability to look at a single post actually reduced server load. Now we have to load whole threads with countless images, and we still often don't end up at the post we are looking for. Insane.

That's not "view single post" - that's "locate post within thread".

We used to have the posibillity of viewing only a single post.

With the bandwidth requirement to display a whole thread instead of a single post, I thought this is something the developers would be keen on bringing back...

Even if the bandwidth difference is minimal, I still think it would be a good idea, especially for anyone who wishes to show the reader a specific post only, i.e. without the posts above or the replies below it.

A very good example is the signatures thread.

View/download images and remove advertisements by registering now! (it's easy, free and takes less than a minute)

You must be registered in order view images in this forum.

I dont have a signature thread

MY gripe is Media Scannes

Saves lots of single posts FROM them in FAV folder
as I have pages to display 50 posts VERY HARD to distinguish one from another ...

You can Free up Space/ Speed Perfornance and get Rid of the Social Groups
