Leaked document shows new AMD Piledriver FX CPUs

The Chinese website ExPreview  has posted a leaked document that shows new AMD Piledriver CPUs accompanied with information on the supported technologies for each CPU. The top model is the AMD FX-8350 with a clock speed of 4 GHz, 8 cores and a TDP of 125 Watt.

In total there are eight CPUs in the document of which the three top models are actual CPUs, the other five are APUs , where the CPU and GPU  are combined on a single chip. APUs have lower graphic performance than seperate video-cards, but make a system cheaper as no separate video-card is required.

The new FX serie, using the Piledriver architecture will replace the old Bulldozer FX serie. The big question is if AMD will have more success with these new Piledriver CPUs as the Bulldozer based CPUs were expected to be competitive to Intel CPUs but never lived up to the expectations. This time expectations are lower, hopefully will AMD will surprise us.

The release date of the  CPUs is unknown but we expect this will be around the same as Windows 8 will be released. Together with the release of a new Windows version there are usually lots of announcements of new laptop and desktop computers which AMD could power with these new CPUs.
