DIMAX connections/Broadcast flag and DVRs

I have Dish & I get some of the flagged channels you list . The Magnovx DVR units I currently have connected to the satellite box aren't having any problems recording from those channels.
I think I have two other Magmovox units that do .I will need to check this . One is still connected to the sat box via coax but I almost never record with it for that reason .
My other units are connected via composite cables.
How are you connected through the Dimax ?
The L & R audio ports are connected directly from AUDIO OUT on my cable box to AUDIO IN on the DVD recorder. The VIDEO OUT goes to the input jack on the DIMAX, and the output from the DIMAX to the VIDEO IN on my recorder.

The broadcast flag does not affect DVR units because in a DVR, the programs are saved to memory or a limited hard drive, and when the memory fills up, programs have to be erased to continue using the DVR. Therefore DVRs do not use the broadcast flag recognition hardware because they are considered a *temporary* medium (though many people upload the programs to their computers before they are erased). Only devices that record programs/movies onto *permanent* digital media (blank DVDs) have the recognition technology.

I am replying to my own post -- I recorded a program from Cinemax (which has the flag) using the DIMAX to my Samsung, and the floating stripe I see on my TV was not visible on my recording when I played the disc. Hooray!

Glad to hear it's working well enough & no floating stripe on the disc.
I do usually just leave shows I record on the DVR part of the unit.
The Magnavox units I have with DVR also are DVD recorders & can "Dub" to a disc.
I don't remember if I have tried this from a channel you list as flagged.
I will have to give that a try & see.

Is the VIDEO OUT goes to the input jack on the DIMAX a Coax cable with RF connectors Type F or an (usually Yellow) video cable with RCA jack ends ?

No, it is the latter (yellow video cable with RCA jack), not coaxial. Sorry I couldn't think of "RCA jack" when I replied before. I replaced the single video cable (yellow/RCA jacks) with two to feed the video signal through the DIMAX.

That is the best way for me anyway . I get a better quality picture than with coax .
I hope I get around to trying a couple of things this weekend. I will post if I do.
