Re: Surround sound problems

You haven't provided much specific information, but it sounds like you are trying to take audio from the TV to your audio system. The TV will only output 2-ch audio on anything other than broadcast channels. This is standard on all TVs.

Re: Surround sound problems

I think you would be far better off using an HDMI, Optical or Coax cable from the back of your cable box and/or DVD player and plug them into the inputs/source of the receiver, then select the source on the reciever e.g. TV, DVD. If the cable box program is outputing 5.1 then you will see 5.1 light up. Same goes for the DVD player.

Re: Surround sound problems

Unfortunately the downside to a home theater in a box is that you are limited to what you can do. Your best choice is to use HDMI to your TV.

Re: Surround sound problems

I guess I should add that if you are running a Sky box, go HDMI to the T.V and optical out from the Sky box to the optical in on your Home Cinema System. Mute the T.V. speakers and use the ones in your system.
