| Re: How Do You Backup XBOX 360 Games? How easy is 'seriously easy'? Because, I dont know about most of the users on this forum, but about the only experience I have in modding anything is a failed experiment to turn a CVS Disposable Camcorder into a night vision camera... I realize that a lot of the mods that you can buy nowadays are drop in and require very little skill, but I am a dumba**, and with being a dumba** I require a little bit of help. Know what I mean? |

| Re: How Do You Backup XBOX 360 Games? Not that its scary, trust me, my 360's warranty has run out a while ago, and on top of that, though i dont trust any of my skillls to build or severely modify any electrical equipment beyond an electric toothbrush(MEGABRUSH, patent pending), I can figure what to and not to do without a guide, know what i mean? Thanks for the help though, I'll check those links out and see what I can do! I'll prolly be back on here, bitching about how i trashed my xbox somehow in just a few days... Hit the 'DO NOT TOUCH' button or something... |

1.Read out the firmware from the XBox360's DVD-ROM drive to the PC etc. 2.Inject the drive key from the oringinal firmware into the hacked firmware (i.e. iXtreme v1.6). 3.Flash the hacked firmware back onto the XBox360's DVD-ROM drive. that's the process in very simple terms (there is NO hardware modification at all... the hardest part in my opinion is opening the XBox360's case which would be hard without the 360 opening tool etc)the CARDINAL RULE when moding your system is... DO NOT LOSE THE DRIVE KEY, THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT! ... so basically DO NOT 'erase' or 'write' to the XBox360's DVD-ROM drive (with Jungle Flasher etc) until your SURE that you got a working backup of the drives firmware! ... if you follow this basic point odds are you cannot screw up your XBox360. this is especially true if you got a Samsung/BenQ/Liteon drive in it as those are much harder to kill vs a Hitachi drive. )360 Drive Models - http://tinyurl.com/6hpktl ... that will tell you pretty much what drive is in your XBox360. http://jungleflasher.net/files/JungleFlasher.pdf ... that's basically the tutorial most people use when moding there system (it's updated fairly recently to, to include the new Liteon 83850c drive) and you can also get that Jungle Flasher program on www.jungleflasher.net to under the downloads. p.s. i personally prefer iPrep v10.7 (it's dos based, which you can get from www.klutsh.com ) to mod all XBox360's (everything besides Hitachi's since those are Windows Only). i actually use 'dosflash v1.8' for BenQ/Samsung drives myself. but basically iPrep is using dosflash but iprep makes it a little easier for the average joe is all since it's a little more automated.

| Re: How Do You Backup XBOX 360 Games? http://www.xbox-scene.com/xbox1data/...llIGZBWnZN.php talks about new games that are using the NEW Wave4 and to sum it up there is only 1 game 'so far' (i.e. "Cars Race-o-rama") that uses Wave4 according to that article but in the near future all games will surely use only Wave4 just as Wave3 came out about a year ago. but basically to boot a wave4 game on iXtreme v1.6 you will need to use the activate.iso file but it's NOT safe for xbox live but that article goes into details on it, so just read that ![]() bottom line... to 'properly' use these new wave4 games we will have to wait until new firmware is released since iXtreme v1.6 cannot boot wave4 games (without the activate.iso file, which if you use this you are surely NOT SAFE for those who use XBox Live) due to v1.6 not having support for Wave4. |

| Re: How Do You Backup XBOX 360 Games? since i cant edit my last post i thought i would post some more info... there is NEW firmware (i.e. iXtreme v1.61) (came out roughly 12 hours ago) that is out for the Samsung and BenQ drives. with this new firmware you can boot Wave 4 games (which the new GTA game uses) without having to use the current 'activate.iso' method in order to get Wave 4 games to boot on iXtreme v1.6 firmware. the other drives (i.e. Liteon etc) NEW firmware is still being worked on. i aint sure if Hitachi users will ever get a proper update since they still never got the iXtreme v1.6 update yet. BUT since Hitachi v1.51 users CAN load Wave 4 games already there is no major need for a update to them as long as there backup's are properly made with Abgx360 etc. |

| Re: How Do You Backup XBOX 360 Games? Another update... as of now it's not recommend to sign onto XBox Live AT ALL if your console is moded since there is a new ban wave that's been hitting recently (the last week or so) and the 'higher ups' still have not figured out how Microsoft is detecting us. even people with properly verified abgx360 v1.0.1 backups are still getting banned it appears. so basically right now NO ONE is safe no matter what methods they are using to avoid detection it seems. so even i don't feel safe and i pretty much almost never had game backup's in the system when i sign into XBox Live. 'so far' i have not been banned myself but then again i NEVER signed into XBox Live since prior to Forza 3 and it seemed around the Forza 3 leak is when people started getting banned recently which was roughly a couple weeks ago and odds are i will not be signing into XBox Live again because of the high ban risk. p.s. if you do get banned, you will lose the ability to copy game data from the disc to the xbox360's hard drive. so games like Forza3 you would be able to play fully since it's on 2 discs and the 2nd disc is optional but contains extra content. it will also disable XviD (.avi) playback from what i heard to. (not that i care about that to much since i use XBox1 running XBMC to do that since it's better anyways ) |

| Re: How Do You Backup XBOX 360 Games? Hi there. im new to the forum. thumbs up for the great info =) i have been doing the hotswopping method for backing up my games but lately i keep getting an error that the dvd i used for the hotswopping is too small. i use a 7.94gb dvd and i cant find one bigger than that anywhere so i want to try a different method. my xbox is alrady modded so i just want to dedicate one of my pc drives...i have a lite on and a hitachi, purely for ripping. my question is... can i flash the firmware for one of these drives so that i can create raw dumps using either schtrom or xbox backup creator? somebody told me you cant but there must be a way lol. |

| The easiest way to back-up Xbox 360 Games is to BUY the "Samsung" SH-D162D DVD burner($54.00) WITH the "KREON v.1.00 Firmware (These come pre-flashed with firmware (www.samsungdrives.com) is where I got mine. Also need to download "XBC" (Xbox360 Back-Up Creator), ABGX360 Stealth Checker, and IMGBURN to burn your ISOs to disc(Don't mess around with any other burner, this one is perfect). (Download these freeware programs from www.360mods.net. There are also excellant Tutorials at this website. (DVD+R DL) If you are going to the trouble to do this, don't get cheap discs,"VERBATIM" ONLY!!! I've backed up 236 games so far and not one bad disc or burn in the bunch, that is not luck, it is quality. Any questions can be answered at www.360mods.net. They have step by step Tuts. Good luck and ROCKON!! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

| Also, this is the method that requires the least work and effort, or should I say, the CADILLAC way. Save your money and try this!! You will never go back to swapping discs again!! I tried the swap method for 3 games and I was tired of it! This method is a few clicks and wait.....and done in 30min.(Roughly 20min. to Rip game & 10 -15min. to Burn. If you get stuck and can't find the answer, e-mail me at thor68372rockon@yahoo.com , Ican talk ya through the rip and burn part of it, but READ...READ...the TUTORIALS through before asking a question because some of the guys on the website hate answering a question that has been posted 100 times already. Been up for 38 hrs., must fall down for a while. Good luck!!ROCKON!! |

| Re: How Do You Backup XBOX 360 Games? @NBR Hey NBR, you are right nobody modded should go on live yet, even if you have the most updated iXtreme v.1.6 Firmware. "iXtreme LT" should be out soon but they say it might come with a $ price attached to it. The problem with the old firmware they say is that M$ is picking up too many changes to the firmware on the DVD Drive when you go on LIVE. Hence the new version of "iXtreme LT"(LITE TOUCH) less modifications to the firmware, or where M$ looks when you go on LIVE. I sure hope the new firmware works for a while anyway, I know it won't last for long with the M$ boys on the job. I guess thats why they make the big bucks.LOL! |

| Hey guys, i know this is the wrong thread to post this in, but I was wondering if somebody could post a link for a place that "SELLS and SHIPS the DMS 4 PS2 MODCHIP to the U.S. I keep getting conflicting stories about them not being able to ship to the U.S. but yet almost everybody has one I talk to. So if somebody could direct me towards a link or a website to purchase one i would be very grateful, thanks alot in advance. |

| Re: How Do You Backup XBOX 360 Games? iXtreme LT is out for those who have a Liteon drive in there XBox360's. (no word on BenQ or Samsung etc users yet but i suspect those will come in the future) NOTE: if your console has been moded prior to using iXtreme LT there's always a chance that MS could have flagged your console in which case LT can't save you. also with LT it's even more important to use abgx360 v1.0.2 since it makes your backups properly with 'splitvid' and 'ss v2'. http://www.xbox-scene.com/xbox1data/...ppZmkXfDei.php (that pretty much sums up all the info on the new iXtreme LT firmware) good thing is... no more worrying about new wave checks in each firmware like what happened in the past with iXtreme v1.5 to 1.6 to 1.61 and so on. |

| Re: How Do You Backup XBOX 360 Games? The way I do is as below: 1. Buy a Samsung D162 DVD burner, which is my favourite. 2. Prepare your DVD+R DL blank discs. 3. Download and install some burner software, you can find more info from http://howtocopyxbox360games.org. I prefer to use some paid software. But if you really do not want to spend any money, you can give a try to Imgburn. Good luck! |

as far as XBox360 backup's... there's pretty much ZERO reason to use anything besides ImgBurn because it's not like the burn quality will get better or anything by using some paid software like CloneCD etc. p.s. 'Game Copy Wizard'? ... sounds like someone's trying to make a quick buck. lol

| Would this pretty much summarize the latest discussion on how to backup XBOX 360 games? As far as I can tell, there are four things you need: 1.) A special DVD Burner with Kreon firmware - "Samsung" SH-D162D DVD burner - Other models? 2.) Ripping Software - XBox360 Back-Up Creator - ABGX360 Stealth Checker - Other Software? 3.) Use High Quality Blank Discs - Verbatim -Other high quality media? 4.) Burner Software - ImgBurn (100% Free) - Nero - CloneDVD Then, as far as I could tell, this would be the steps to undertake: 1.) Insert the Original Xbox360 game in the Samsung SH-D162D DVD Burner *Which firmware version to use? 2.) Rip the orginal Xbox360 game to your hard disk *Which program works best for reading original Xbox360 games to the hard disk? 3.) Insert a blank DVD disc *Do you have to use dual layer discs? 4.) Use your favorite burning software to burn the ripped game to the blank dvd *Any recommended speed? Thanks! |

1. Download "Xbox Back-up Creator", "abgx360", "Imgburn". 2. Install These Programs. 3. After All Is Installed, "Double Click" "Xbox Back-up Creator". After it is opened, you will see the version of the program at the top, I use v.2.9 by Redline99. If you have the kreon firmware Sammy drive, it will read at the top"TSST corp DVD-ROM SH-D162D SB00" 4.Make sure the "SPTI" is Checked with the Blue Dot. 5.Now, to the right side, "Click" "Options". Left Click the top arrow on the DRIVE box, choose your drive, mine is SH-H162D. These Are the drives that are supposed to RIP Xbox 360 Games. Next, Down below that is the "Set Speed" Set the speed to "4x". Don't change anything else. 6. Next, EJECT the tray on your Samsung Kreon Drive, place the game to be Ripped in the tray, Close the tray. Wait...Wait, After a couple of Seconds, the "COMPLETE BACKUP" Box (Or Blue Dot)on the left side will Highlight, and the START button will also Highlight. 7.Next, "Left Click" START. 8. Next, You will be asked to create a SAVE file location, I put mine right on C:// Drive, CREATE a folder named, "RIPPED XBOX 360 GAMES". then hit save, and XBC will start RIPPING the game to C: DRIVE. Takes About 25 min. 9. Now, the process that is taking place here is XBC is unlocking the security sectors of the game disc and putting the Game Image into an ISO file, You will have 2 ISO's in your RIPPED GAMES folder, one is a game ISO which will be used with Imgburn to burn the game, the other is to be used with "ABGX360". 10. After XBC is done, a box will appear saying it is "completed". Close out of XBC. 11. Open "ABGX360" the program you downloaded. Top left "INPUT" should be "FILES", Next, left click "options", Put check marks in these boxes only...1.Check/Create .dvd file 2.Check Stealth 3.Verify if Stealth Passes 4. Check/Fix Video Padding. 5. Use Colors. 6. Check for AnyDVD Style game data corruption. 7. Check for updates. 8. Check Game Partition CRC when needed. 9. Maximize it. 10. Use Terminal font characters. Done with Check Marks! 12. "PROGRAM OUTPUT" should be "CLI Window". 13.Next, top right, a picture of a folder, left click it. If an error message comes up, "X" out of it. Now, find the folder on C:// Drive that you saved your RIPPED GAMES to. You will see 2 ISO files, you DO NOT want the ".dvd" ISO file yet, pick the other one. The .dvd ISO file will not work in ABGX360 anyway. Now, Double-Click the ISO file, it will automaticaly go into ABGX360, now down at the bottom of ABGX360 you will see a box that says"LAUNCH" left click it now. It is Stealth checking the game ISO that you ripped from the disc. It takes about 3-4 minutes so just wait. 14. When it says "hit any key to continue", hit any key and it will disappear, if it does not just "X" out. you are done with stealth checking. Just because we stealth checked the game does not mean you are "bullet proof", you can still be banned!! If you don't play on LIVE then you have no worries. iXtreme LT should take care of this problem (for now). It may be out, I have not checked yet. If you want you might do a little homework before you flash your firmware on your Xbox 360 DVD drive, and see if it is available. Anyway, on to the Burning Process. 15. Next, Double-Click "Imgburn". The Top Left Choice "Write Image File To Disc" is the one you want, Left Click It. 16. Next, "Source", Left Click the folder with the Magnifing glass on it, find the folder with your 2 ISO files in it. There should be one that has a picture of a DVD with a flame on it, that is your .dvd ISO. Double-Click it. It will automaticaly go to the "SOURCE" slot on Imgburn. Now, down below is the "DESTINATION" slot, use the arrow to open the selection box, choose your burning DVD drive, keep in mind ,your drive must be able to burn DL Discs(DOUBLE LAYER DISCS). 17. Right hand side, under "SETTINGS", "WRITE SPEED", should be set at 2.4x, "COPIES" set at 1. Also, your DVD Burner Must be set in DVD-ROM mode. It may already be set at this setting, so try to burn one and see, also, make sure you put a "CECK MARK" in the box that says "VERIFY", it will verify that it has been burned successfully to your DVD DL Disc. 18. Next, make sure you have a blank DVD+R DL Verbatim Disc in the burner drive, and then you will Left-Click the "Picture of the "FILE-Green Arrow-DISC", that is the "Burn-It Button". Wait for it to burn (about 45-60 minutes). After it's done put it in a modded Xbox360 and try it out. GOODLUCK!!HAVE FUN!!ROCKON!!Thor68372rockon I hope I explained this in a way that everybody understands this. The programs I used came from the internet, FOR FREE. The only thing I had to buy was the "Samsung SH-D162D KREON DVD Drive", for RIPPING, and my other external burner "LG Super Multi", for burning the game. You may be able to use the KREON Drive to burn it also, I have not tried it. I have 230 Backed-Up Games now so I know it is worth the effort & money to go this route. I only spent about $100.00 on the burners together, burn 2 games and you have that much in games if you were to rebuy the games because of a scratch or broken game disc. Any questions, just ask, I'll try to get back to ya as soon as possible. ROCKON!!!

Hey MultiC0pier, Sorry I didn't answer your other questions, here they are... The Four Things You Will Need.... 1. Other models that will work -YES, but not sure of all of them, Samsung SH-D162C, SH-D162D, SH-D163A, SH-D163B. TS-H943A, VAD6038, GDR-3120L, DG-16D2S. But I Do Believe They All Have To Be Flashed With The KREON v.1.00 Firmware. 2. XBC v.2.9.0 Build 0306 is all you will need for Ripping the game. ABGX360 For Stealth Checking Your Game Image File Or "GAME ISO" 3. I Will Stand Firm On The Verbatim DVD+R DL Discs, If You Use Others You May Be Making Coasters, Some Say They Have Had Luck With Other Media, A Lot Of Others & I Have Not. SAMS Club Has Them For $57.00 For 50 Discs, Cheap For What They Are Being Used For. 4. ImgBurn v.2.5.0.0 Is The Best Burning Software Out There, Oh Yeah, Did I Forget To Mention, IT'S FREE!!! Do A Google Search!! Find It & Use It. No Error Rate At All. Steps To Undertake.... 1. Firmware Version To Use - KREON v.1.00 2.XBC v.2.9.0 Build-0306 is the only one that I know of, Oh Yeah, And It's FREE!!! 3. And Yes You Have To Use Dual Layer Discs, Verbatim DVD+R DL Discs, It's A Lot Of Information To Be Burned To The Disc. 4. Recommended Speed Varies, But You Want The Lowest Your Burner Will Burn So It Will Be Accurate With No Errors, I Set Mine At 2.4x, But It Burns At 4x. So The Rule Of Thumb Is "Low & Slow" For A Perfect Burn. Hope That Helps, Later Guys & Gals! ROCKON!!

This is really a great guide and a nice update on how to backup xbox 360 games, no single post in this thread has been as clear as this! Do you think you can contact the moderator of this forum, and ask if it's okay if you turn these two posts into a brand new guide on how to backup xbox 360 games? If you can then post it as a new (sticky?) thread, everybody can enjoy it - because now it's a cluttered in between almost 250 other posts!!! @ MultiC0pier Hey, Thanks For The Compliments Bud! First One I Wrote For A Site , Could Of Been A Little Neater Or More Professional, But I Was In A Hurry. I DJ & KJ And Had To Get To A Show, But I'm Glad That It Helped Somebody. It Took Me 3-Months Of Searching And Research Before I Finally Found The Perfect & Easy Way To Back-Up My Games, WOW.....Talk About Some Really Late Nights And Very Early Mornings . Here's Another Little Helpful Hint For Ya, I Have 10- 1 Terabyte External HDDs That I Copy My ISO's Of The Games To After I RIP Them To C: Drive, Save Them To External (COPY& PASTE) So If You Ever Have To Burn Another Copy Of The Game , You Already Have It, You Don't Have To RIP It Again. Hey, ...Thanks Again, Later!! ROCKON!!
