DVD starts playing then stops and starts.

I'm not sure of the model of the player but in this case I don't think it matters.

Some of my burned DVD's have a problem playing in our DVD player. Most will play just fine and some wont. The ones that don't play like they’re supposed too will start and stop throughout while playing. The DVD will be playing then it will stop and be like that for a short period of time then start again. Sometimes it plays for some minutes then does it again and will keep repeating until we give up watching. Some stop, play for a second or 2 then keep repeating this. Most of the time when stopping .... how do I explain it?? Blocks or small squares will appear on the screen.... like a pixilation problem?? Then it will go from like 1 hour to 1 hour and 2 minutes skipping ahead and those 2 minutes don’t play, the jump times vary. I’m not sure if I am explaining it right so I hope you understand. This is the second time I have burned this avi file (converts to vso with ConvertXtoDVD) The first time the problem started within a 1/2 hour. This last burn didn't start until 3/4 of the way through.

I play the DVD on my PC and it plays fine, good quality and no stopping. This problem started on another DVD player we have. We switched DVD players and the problem stopped for that particular DVD we were playing at the time, only to happen again with a different DVD at a later date. I thought it might be a spike in my cpu while burning. I have always used DVD+R disks and tried switching brands but it didn't help. I use the newest version of ConvertXtoDVD. The disks I use are clean and not scratched.

I don’t know if its because of the file I burn, the software, or the player but I would really like to solve this problem.

Hi winster and welcome to the forum

It all sounds like a problem related to the burning quality of the media you used. Can you mention please your dvd recorder model and the exact DVD media you have used? You can check the MID (media ID code) for the media you used with a program like DVD Identifier.

You could try using better media, such as Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden. Updating your drive's firmware if possible might also help out.

Some players are better at reading media that have recording errors compared to others (depending on their error correction capability), hence the differences between the readers.

The Movies you copied is "copy protected" and your DVD player firmware is detecting this feature. there is an error code randomly placed through out the movie.

Most likely you just need to lower the burn speed on those discs. Your description is a classic description of poor burn quality. In any case, don't use 16x burn speed, but something more like 8x.
