4K’ Video: A Hope for Japan’s Electronics Makers?

Quote:
These are dark days for the electronics industry in Japan. Sony Corp. is working to regain its mojo (and profitability after four straight years in the red), while Sharp, which once ruled Japan’s television market, is now facing a cash crunch that has raised questions about its long-term future.

Has anybody bought one? The Toshiba Regze 55X3 4K TV costs only about US$10,000 while Eizo's FDH3601 2K monitor costs US$30,000.

Just found this for about US$170. T221 was released many years ago, but 3840*2400 resolution is still higher than Apple Retina MacBook Pro's 2880*1800.

Ken, I think that IBM model also serves as a toaster oven and portable sun-tan salon. Then IBM discovered its uses in radiological studies, and marketed them to hospitals and their kitchens.

"It's an X-Ray Machine and a replacement for George Foreman Grills-! You can tell patients to stand in cafeteria lines AND have all fractures diagnosed and radiation therapy completed at the same time!"

OK, OK... just kidding...

IBM would never want to replace George Foreman Grills...

Apple will release 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display (2560 by 1600 resolution) in October according to the rumor sites. Perhaps it will be better than the 15-inch MBP with 2880 by 1800 resolution Retina screen.
