Why should it? I would assume buffering into the RAM would be enough...........

CloneDVD2 uses a tmp dir, when creating image files, so one would think CloneCD does also....

CloneCD ripping and burning " on the fly" was what you asked about, was it not? CloneDVD2 does not burn on the fly. Any program that compresses will usually give you the path to the temp folder or you can create the path yourself.

It does have a default directory under the user my documents temp folder. But since you doing on the fly it won't save it to the HDD only going from drive to drive. But there lies a problem if your source is error it will send it straight to the blank making problem for the new media. So unless you know your source is error free or doesn't have problem then go copy on the fly but you have to remember this is resource hog and you shouldn't use your computer when doing this feature.

CloneDVDx is not CloneCD, AFAIK.

Using a temp folder by using OTF copying/burning would make things worse.
OTF is no good choice in case of reliability.

That also comes from experiencing trying it and wasting precious DL media. AFAIK OTF copying doesn't use any temp folder. I used it and it goes from drive to drive assuming you have to burner in use. That how I do OTF copy but everything from the drive to the computer to the RAM and blank media must be in astrological aligment to work properly.

No, I was asking about on-the-fly copying and image creation.
