Hi - please if anyone can help me it would be much appreciated!

I have a training CD - ROM, when i loaded clonecd i was able to copy it once and it worked perfectly.

Now when i try any other copies the copied CD says please insert original CD.

Things i have done so far to try to get it working again -
Have bought the same CDRWS that it worked on the first time - TDK CD-RW high speed 700mb 80 mins.

Have scanned the disc to try and see what encryption it is - array scanner doesnt dectect any.

Tryed using alcohol 120percent no joy either.

Tryied doing it on another computer with clone cd - no joyeither

Any advice much appreciated!

RW are problematic at best just use CD+R. RW are only suited for data backup. What version of CloneCD are you using? How many copies of the original did you do that says that message?? What has changed since that time that you said it worked?? Usually it doesn't work on game cd or dvd. It works well on music cd and dvd movies other type of dvd or cd it doesn't do or won't do it correctly. So unless you can replicate the first time it worked your left with buying multiple cd media of that volume from them.

Would you please tell us the name of the Training program ?

If you haven't done so before: please also scan the installation directory with ProtectionID - not only the CD.

Hi,
The training program is from a company called skills2learn (.com) - When i open up the cd to explore it this is the list - -
Where do i look to find the installation directory for this?
Done a scan with copy protection 2000 and that also doesnt identify any copy protection.
I retraced my roots and done what i done the first time when it worked but it still doesnt work ie it worked on clone cd using the profile of protected game cd.

Once again help much appreciated -

Right click on the training programs' shortcut on your desktop or in
Start menu -> Properties -> Find Target (XP) or Open File Location (Vista).

Now drag & drop the folder in ProtectionID's Log Window, or right click that
folder and choose Scan with ProtectionID in the context menu.

Hi,

Been playing around and worked out this particular CD runs straight from the cd ie there is no installation directory ie no short cut on desktop or in start menu.

If i had to guess i would say it's protected by Hexalock.
Maybe you can find some advice in this thread, or you could ask GoldStar611 to have a look at your Start.exe.

Thanks for putting me in the right direction -

By reading up i reckon the disc is protected with - HexaLock AutoLock. (which is about 4 years old)

By reading up on it this claims to be difficult to detect on protection Id programs. - Never showed up on the ones i done!

When i run the normal hexalock removal tools from this site it doesnt identify any files that have hexalock.

The CD i did manage to copy stopped working!

Sent goldstar611 a pm for advice but guess he hasnt got around to checking his messages yet.

Thanks

Using CD-RW makes no sense.
Use CD-R!

@chef
In this case CD-R isn't more senseful either

btw. knowing there can be issues i personally never had problems
when burning backups to CD-RW (in times immemorial).

Sorry if I don't frequent this board as much as I used to, I'm getting started with MASM and that has taken a lot of my internet usage as most of it pertains to questions there At anyrate Could you upload the start.exe program to the board or rapidshare for me? Hexalock has a .EXE sub file added as a resource in the main exe and from that exe two loader DLLs in there also. I just want to verify this

I doubt users on here will do that. As that is against forum rules.

I wasn't aware of that, although it has been a while since I visted the guidelines. Thanks for the heads up. At first glance this does not seem to be HexaLock. The original poster is having the same problem as here
http://club.cdfreaks.com/f80/help-cd-copy-208611/
which was never resolved

I have to retract that last statement, it *is* infact HexaLock. I did a bit more searching -- it just pretends to look like a macromeda file.
