| I have been trying to burn a DVD video with data on it with no success. I would like to burn it in such a way that I may view the DVD video in the DVD player, and when I put it in the computer I would like it to run an executible file. How can I make this work??? |

| Not possible?!?!? I think NOT! Of course it can be done... IF you have access to Nero Burning Rom suite, run "Nero Recode" , and select "Recode entire DVD". you get a screen with two tabs - "DVD VIDEO files" and "DATA Files". Simply drag/drop files to the DVD part and then to the data part, and burn the DVD. It is really that simple... |
| This is a pretty old thread but it is exactly the problem I am having. My Nero recode is not working under version 6. Can't find the media to re-iinstall. Are there any alternatives to recoding with Nero to accomplish a combo DVD? The solution can be either Mac or Windows based for me. This is proving to be a major pain. I have tried burning data disc's with the Video_TS folder. At another users suggestion, putting the data for computer access only in a separate folder outside of the Video_TS folder and naming it with a letter after the V to change the order has not worked. There has to be a simpler way to accomplish this and not tied to Nero only. |
| I'm a bit confused. Do you want the "data" to autorun when you insert the DVD in a PC or do you just need it to be accessible? Have you tried Imgburn, http://www.imgburn.com/? Start Imgburn and select "Create image file from files/folders". Add your Video_TS folder and then add your data folder, then burn the disk. Your DVD player will only look for the Video_TS folder and ignore the data folder. When you insert the DVD in a PC, the user will have access to both the movie and the data. You don't need to add any letters to the data folder, just keep it seperate. If you need the DVD to autorun when inserted in a PC, that's another matter. |

DVD Video has some minor rules: .vob and their associated .ifo and .bup files have to be in the VIDEO_TS folder in the root folder. Also there is an AUDIO_TS folder sometimes, mostly only as a placebo, because not needed in most cases. All other files can be on the disc too with absolutely other data, not associated with the video material at all, of course. I see no point of rautorun anyway, you can forget it completely if autrun feature is disabled, and these days most prefs have that settings!
