Hey
I have a Lite-ON 12101B(flash Creative 1210E) and have an original Age Of Empires 2 disc which i have been unable to sucessfully backup. I have CloneCD 4.0.1.9 and im burning onto either Kodak 80min cd, princo 80min cd or Pirnco 80min cd. i have made countless coasters and the last time i burnt it i ended up with a cd with 2 audio tracks on it. i use clony xxl and the settings it tells me. also do i create an image or burn on the fly? a full list of setting (on/off) would be great.
thanx in advance for any help

Age of Kings uses SD1 protection...
Fast Error Skip=on
Reading speed=MAX
You should create image file first and then burn it into a CDR disc...
cause the SD1 contains with numberous logical error sectors
Remember to burn the image by RAW DAO method
...
If above can't help you...
You may give FantomCD a try...
The settings for SD1 are enabled automatically...

Use CD-Mate. A lot of Lite-ons (including the 40125s I own) have problem with CloneCD reading. Using the CD-Mate I think that you will have a working backup disk.

Nope, lite-ons have no problem with ccd reading!

Lite-ons have encountered some problems with the latest securom protection found on some new game titles. This is not related to clonecd by any means.

There has been a problem with the "hide cdr media" option of ccd's tray which has been related to lite-ons among other drives. I'm not sure but i think this has been fixed on ccd's last version

Fixed with version 4.0.1.6 and above. Mostly affected securerom protected titles anyway.

I burnt Age of Kings with my 8x LG writer using Clony XL and CloneCD 3.3.4.1 So your writer should be fine

This type of error is usually hardware related. It could be something like dirt on the laser or something more serious. I would suggest updating your busmaster and chipset drivers - enabling/disabling dma.

Nero states the following as possible reasons:

"This error message appears for one of the following reasons:

*The CD Writer has problems writing on the CD-R/RW. Please resort to another brand mark of CD-R/RW. Please ask the vendor of your CD burner for recommended brands of CD-R/RW. You will also find information in problematic CD-R/RW.

*The power supply of your computer is not providing enough power.

*You are using an external device. Please check the power supply and for test purposes install the burner in the computer.
Numerous graphics cards require a lot of power. The same goes for numerous CPUs and some harddisks.

*the mains cable or the plug is defective. Please use another plug cable for test purposes.

*The computer vibrates to such an extent that the laser can not stay in the track. In particular if a CD-ROM drive is being used as the read drive.

*The device has become hot
Only operate in cool conditions.

*If you have one of the following CD Writer:
Grundig CDR100IPW, HP 4020, Kodak CDR240, Mitsubishi CDVR2X4, Mitsumi CD-R CR-2401TS, Philips CDD2000, Plasmon CDR4220, Plasmon RF4100, Plasmon RF4102, Wearnes CDR-432

or are using one of the following types of

HP 6020, Mitsubishi CDVR2X6, Mitsubishi CDVR, Philips CDD2600, Wearnes CDR-632P

, then it yould be a case of the well-known grease problem. In particular if the error has only been occurring recently. Other CD Writerare also affected, in which it may help to grease the axles with silicon grease (Warning: We don't guarantee anything!)

*The lens of the write laser is dirty.
the CD-R itself is not clean or is of bad quality. In particular if writing with 8x, conditions like this become noticeable.
If 80 minute CD-Rs are being used, then the cause can be that the track distance is too small, on the limit of the specification. It is possible that you are using a CD Writer , which has problems writing on these.

*Older driver versions of the file CDR4VSD.VXD (driver from Easy CD) also cause the above mentioned error message
The error message can also occur if the CD Writer has not been set up correctly.
Please set the system settings as described in recommended settings .

*One case is known in which the error message appeared after exchanging the mother board. After newly setting up the motherboard (including formatting), the problem was solved.

*Or there is a hardware problem.
"

As hemispasm suggested, it seems to me that you almost certainly have a hardware problem.

As i already suggested (long shots):

1, Try updating bus/chipset drivers

2. Read through nero tips about this matter (the ones prior to the last) and see if any of them apply to your case

3. Invalid command codes usually come up due to interaction with other burning applications, usually easy cd or something. It could be a driver conflict between them. Try uninstalling possible conflicting software
