As a general rule: Don't fiddle around with the settings unless you *know* what you are doing. The default profiles aren't that bad. They are probably a little conservative, so that new users get instant success.
The important point here is that "new users" can get instant succes and advice to less experienced members should be to use the 'default settings provided by CloneCD'.

Click the first icon (read to image file)

Right click your chosen reader

Data for SecuROM, both for ProtectCD and all three for Karoke; NOT REQUIRED for SafeDisc

Click Default! Click Default! Click Default! Click Default! ("0" for Toshi & LITEON)

Make your own profiles

Right Click...choose Edit

  • FES Settings: Choose Automatic or individualise if you know what you're doing
  • Abort on read error is for non-error based protections ie SecuROM
  • DO NOT CHECK Abort on read error for SD, ProtectCD, Tages or LaserLock!!!!!!!
  • DO NOT check "Don't Report Read Errors if you want to archive your log, post it or otherwise refer to it
  • Intelligent Bad Sector Scan is for LaserLock but does not now otherwise slow down an error read; safe to leave 'checked'

Audio - this is just a speed 'thing'. If there are 'audio' tracks on the game CD then you can use this setting - Plextors can use "Bad (Fastest)" because they have extra circuitry for outstanding audio reads anyway - "bad" is not bad for Plextors! Audio is required for ProtectCD and non-standard audio/hybrid CDs

Shoot!

Hi FutureProof,

> Data for SecuROM, both for ProtectCD and all three for Karoke; NOT REQUIRED for SafeDisc <

It is important to know, that you *SHOULD NOT* change the reader / writer settings unless you really MUST because of an incompatibility problem.

Settings are split into four categories:

1.) Reader Settings - settings that solely depend on the hardware capabilities of your reader

2.) Writer Settings - settings that solely depend on the hardware capabilities of your writer

3.) Read Profile - settings that depend on the type of media you wish to copy

4.) Write Profile - settings that depend on the type of media you wish to copy

Sometimes settings depend *both* on the hardware and the type of source media.

For example, if you disable "Allow reading of subchannel..." in reader settings - maybe because your reader reads garbage subchannel data - , no subchannel data will be read regardless of what is specified in the profile!

BETA 14 introduced a new write setting: "Allow Amplify Weak Sectors"
Same deal. If you KNOW that your writer does write EFM regular bitpatterns correctly, you can uncheck it. If you do, the Profile setting will be ignored.

As a general rule: Don't fiddle around with the settings unless you *know* what you are doing. The default profiles aren't that bad. They are probably a little conservative, so that new users get instant success.

Olli,

Does that mean that if I put in a Playstation CD into the drive and read it with the default profile it will work without any problem? assuming that the reader is FULLY and 100% compatible with clonecd.......or do I still need to use manual settings?....Just downloaded the demo ......the look and feel of it is amazing.......great work olli

Regards and best of luck

Raj

For Plextor, and this is important, just use default.

A .cue allows you to burn CloneCD images using other programs The .cue simply translates the CloneCD image 'data' for another program, any program that can use a .cue

The .cue was very handy before D-Tools had native support for .ccd files. Now you can 'mount' the .cue or the .ccd in Daemon-Tools

@ wiruz_dk:

The cue sheet can be used to burn the images with for instance Nero. So if you use a Lite-On drive (which you don't), you can burn a disc without the smartburn on so you ca n burn at for instance 48X with 16X media (not recommended but possible)

I'm hoping for mercy if this is the wrong area to post:
I'm using trial of CloneCD (already bought CloneDVD and AnyDVD). Some of the first backups of my CDs (don't want to tear them up in the car) worked fine. Now I just make coasters. Will play in the PC, not in the car. Asking tech support always blames the media or my car audio. Anyone direct me to helpful reading on a forum?
