Yes. Just choose not to install the virtual drive when you install ccd.

I think the comments posted on CNet are referring to a previous CloneCD version. The registry problems were rare and the latest version (4.2.0.2 from Dec 4th 2002) works very well. When you do experience problems you can of course ask for help right here..
