I'm having some problems with my Cyberdrive 36x/12x/48x trying to copy GTA3 on Clone CD 4, I just upgraded to Clone CD 4, and I was able to copy the Install CD and nothing works for the Play CD. I used BetaBlocker, and still doesn't work... I'm thinking of getting Blindwrite to try it out... suggestions are most needed thanks in advanced

Edit: And I don't want to use anything in the background like Daemon Tools and etc, and I'm using XP Pro.

Hi. GTA3 is SafeDisc v2.51.021, a real burner killer in more ways than one. Only a handful of manufacturers are unaffected by .021

CloneCD's Amplify Weak Sectors, a work-around for safeDisc 2, works with some burners but not most. Similarly, BetaBlocker works with some burners but not all.

There are some XP issues that you need to work through and they are highlighted in the Down & Dirty sticky post.

As for D-Tools, you can check to see if your image is actually a RAW 1:1 backup by running the game from the phantom CD-ROM without emulation. Using the FastDump feature has its benefits too, if all else fails, and reading is made a little easier. Reading is not impossible for most devices (well, some readers can take a while!) it's the writing that counts at the end of the day.

If you follow all the tips/hints, follow the fastdump instructions, use CloneCD properly and/or BB and it's still custard, then there's little else to do but run it using D-Tools

I'm sorry, I'm a newbie with burning and stuff, I know work arounds but not this deep... I am sooo confused with what you are explaining

What are D-Tools? I tried changing the Regional Settings in XP to UK but that didn't help

Thanks for your reply, and I'll check out that sticky thread.

D-Tools = Daemon Tools

Check out the FAQ, also a sticky post. Please feel free to post any questions after that. The search function also lists the results in descending order of posting so that newer posts are at the top. GTA3 was a big issue a few months ago and the big threads are worth struggling through. Don't think I'm blowing you off with the Search function thing - your answer may be in there. But I'll try to answer any specific question you have

Here's a link to my burner I don't know anymore info to provide you after going through those stickies, I know about Gamecopyworld, but last time I checked (awhile ago) they didn't have a patch to copy it like many other games. I don't have much money for anything after I spent 100$ on a new power supply to feed my machine, I just can't afford a new burner...

Personally, I don't advise on or recommend cracks, patches or other software altering devices. The Rules of the Forum also prohibit this. The aim is to get a working 1:1 backup which you may be able to do with a little experimentation.
  • Turn off IMAPI in Services
  • Turn off burning in the burner's properties - only affects the internal burning
  • Check DMA in Device Manager - is the Cyberdrive a UDMA device? Only busmastering burners work optimally
  • Cables - use ATA66+ IDE cables for your disks
  • d/l the WNASPI32.DLL from ahead at nero.com and copy it to your \system\ folder
  • install ASPI 4.71 as a last resort
  • you get the idea about tips and hints....
The Cyberdrive is not a recognised burner's burner and there are few alternatives other than to try CD Mate and Blindwrite or buy a Liteon or ASUS

I just finished downloading Clony and using that setting in CloneCD. I just removed an ATA100 cable (I think I messed it up while I was rounding it myself?). Again, I apoligize for not being more informed in cd duplication but what is IMAPI? I'm pretty sure this burner is a UDMA device. And I'll check off DMA mode right now..

Unfortunately, you'll need to be lucky to get a working back-up of GTA III with a cyberdrive. See this thread for some possible solutions. In case you're wondering as to the relevance of that thread, MOHAA and GTA III use the same version of safedisc 2 as their copy protection.

Thanks Philamber, both you and FutureProof have proven to me very helpful, but I'm still confused with everyone saying AWS, what is it? I just upgraded to the new CloneCD so I'm still adjusting. Thanks

Thanks for the offer bear, it's poopeyhed2@hotmail.com and Smoke, this is a Cyberdrive, so I doubt it will burn.

I have a Cyberdrive CW068D and am able to backup MOHAA which also uses SafeDisc 2.51.021 but I can only make a working backup on CDRW media. CDR media will not work and I can't figure out why.

I used ClonedCD 4.0.0.1, AWS, default Game Profile, Max Read and Write speed, Cyberdrive for both reading and writing. The CW068D has the 110D firmware. There has never been any updates available.

Hope this helps.

I know the Cyberdrive CW058D has had a few firmware upgrades. You might want to try the latest. V140D claims to have better support for CloneCD. (This is interesting! I've never seen CloneCD mentioned at a manufacturer's site before).

LOL! I must have mis-read one of the earlier posts. Sorry about that.

I can't think of anything else to tell you. The only thing tricky about MOHAA for me was learning about AWS. I always use CDRWs to test a new game backup so MOHAA worked on the first try.

For some reason, I don't need Hide CDR Media. Maybe you should try it if you haven't already.
