How do these compare to a premium brand such as Verbatim or TY (if they happen do make any bd-r) ?

Wish LG would update frimware so I can scan...

Their quality is on the edge of acceptability - I would avoid RITEK-BR2-000 media at any cost.

...Why is Philips supplying so many brands, and why is it that Ritek/ Ridata itself is outsourcing its media production? This is not a mystery to us. Ritek/ Ridata went through a major quality problem for all the Blu ray disks it sold up until the second quarter of 2010: the media degraded so fast that BD-R disks manufactured by Ritek often became unreadable in a few months, generating massive data loss. Both Ritek/ Ridata and Memorex (outsourced to Ritek at the time) showed a massive percentage of user reviews testifying about data loss. Clearly, the problem was so acute that Ritek itself had to stop most of its production and switch to Philips licensed media...

Re: RITEK BD-R SL

I'm not sure that information is correct. I did extensive googling and didn't find any corroborating information to what they reported. Further, Memorex discs still have a MID of RITEK-BR2-000. It seems highly unlikely that Memorex had 9+ months worth of inventory in their warehouses / sales channel that they're still it selling off. So, either Ritek has resumed production but didn't change the MID or it's just rampant speculation on their part.
