Samsung unveils MyFit W1 MP3 player

Samsung has introduced the new W1 MP3 player designed specifically for athletes in mind, with custom features that can be used while exercising.

The W1 "MyFit" player includes 8GB of internal memory with custom health management tools programmed directly into the device.  It's the only MP3 player that includes a menu specializing in health applications, including stress and built-in fat sensors.

It's also possible to make playlists depending on the workout, with a tap control used to navigate basic MP3 player functions.

The MP3 player's regular features includes FM radio, MP3, WMA, AAV, and OGG audio support, with MPEG and WMV video support.  Samsung's newest MP3 player also has a built-in accelerometer so owners can track calories burned when using it.

Additional custom apps include a smoking cessation feature and water intake manager, along with a food calorie counter.

Numerous companies have announced new products and services ahead of CES, as the event routinely floods the consumer electronics news wires.  A growing number of products should be somewhat similar to the Samsung MyFit, with consumers increasingly interested in products with exercise features.

I like products like the Samsung MyFit that cater specifically to athletes and active people who take an MP3 player out on adventures.

Samsung hopes to release the new MP3 player within six months, but didn't specify an exact date or MSRP.
