Hi Guys Im New Here As u can tell need help with my new surround system.
Just Bought A LG 42 inch tv model number pg300 and the home theatre kit also lg nt503th i have it connected through hd lead to tv and audio through a digital optical lead to my tv but am only getting sound through 2 front speakers and subwoofer nothing from centre speaker or 2 rear ones Any comments or help on this matter would be much appreciated thx

You haven't provided much specific information, but it sounds like you are trying to take audio from the TV to your audio system. The TV will only output 2-ch audio on anything other than broadcast channels. This is standard on all TVs.

I think you would be far better off using an HDMI, Optical or Coax cable from the back of your cable box and/or DVD player and plug them into the inputs/source of the receiver, then select the source on the reciever e.g. TV, DVD. If the cable box program is outputing 5.1 then you will see 5.1 light up. Same goes for the DVD player.

Unfortunately the downside to a home theater in a box is that you are limited to what you can do. Your best choice is to use HDMI to your TV.

I guess I should add that if you are running a Sky box, go HDMI to the T.V and optical out from the Sky box to the optical in on your Home Cinema System. Mute the T.V. speakers and use the ones in your system.

Thx Guys For all your input and help much appreciated have routed the optical cable direct to my virgin box from my system and sound is much clearer but 2.1 but never mind one day broadcasting my catch up to 5.1 heres hoping Once again thx for all your time
