When I try to turn my tv. on the lamp light in flashing, and I am guessing that the LCD light is burnt. It is 5 years old. I would like to know if it is possible that I can replace it myself. Thanks in advance for any help. |

| If you can safely navigate inside without getting zapped and are mechanically inclined and maybe know how to solder you should be fine. I have to do the lamp on my moms set. The whole assembly is 109 bucks from a reputable after market lamp seller. It might be easier if you have a service manual or at least ask this question on a forum dedicated to TV stuff like AVS.com so somebody that has done a set like yours can give you any pointers. |

| Thanks for writing, I got the info needed to change the light myself in the manual that I got from Sony. And I found it very straight forward to do it. The biggest problem is buying the lamp. I have found a big bunch of places where I can buy it, but most of this places are in the US and I am in Canada. Also I have found two places in the city that I live, one is called Bestech. But this people are very rude to do business with. First of all, I got a quotation over the phone in which they offer me a Philips lamp and when I got there they were giving me an Osram. I have learned that Philips give you better picture and long life. The other place sent me a quotation e-mail and when I phoned them to confirm the purchase the gentleman who answered the phone told me that I have to send the payment first and the lamp will be shipped to me one day after because the lamp was coming from another city. But he did not did not asked for my address and phone number, so I asked how he will send me the item without having my address. His answer was " well send me the money and after that you can send me an e-mail with the shipping address. The bottom line is that I do not like buying things on line. I have heard people talking about getting ripped off. I am going to keep trying to f |

| Your welcome, I think most of the lamp assemblies just plug in but this will be the first one I've done when it arrives. I could have got the Osram lamp by itself for the same price so I just opted for the whole assembly to keep it simple. They claim to ship internationally and it appears that they have mostly good feedback if you want to try them http://www.laptopsforless.com. There are others as well here that sell for about the same price and quite a few that are more but not sure who else will ship to you over the border. My order was shipped the next day by USPS for free, but thy have other options that may be faster and cost more and I'm pretty sure it would cost you something becuase of your location, good luck. You might want to double check the voltage and things before you finally get a lamp in case something in the circuit went bad and caused it to blow out. |

| First check if they will ship Internationally. Select your shipping method carefully. Depending on who you use for shipping there could be broker fees involved and this can be included in the price of shipping or something that you will have to pay before you take possession.

| Well thats great, hoping my lamp system shows up soon so I can fix Moms TV. I think I would pay a bit extra to just walk in and buy it as well but with the exchange rate that might not be a whole lot higher. Great to hear it's working fine now, too bad more owner don't realize it's fairly east to do themselves. |

| Well Lamp was here in the afternoon when we checked the mail so went to moms house with some tools and started the process. I found a door on the right side of the tv so I popped it open and it said Lamp replacement slot or something similar. I had to twist a tab part way to unlock the lamp cover then push down on the lock tab after the door was out of the way and slide out the old lamp assembly, the new one just slid right in with some runners on the case for it to mate with and locked into place with a click. I gave it a gentle push and a tug and it was locked in tight so we fired it up and it had a nice bright picture just like new again. Must have taken all of 5 minutes  Too bad the projection LCD sets just don't have the black level of a good CRT set or plasma becuase that was one of the easiest service calls I've ever done to a dead TV, Mom was thrilled |
