FYI, uninstalled v2.9.9.6 today. After doing so, v. 3.0.4.1 erred and would not run. Uninstalled it, reinstalled it, re-activated it, and now it runs.

I say if you upgrade, get rid of 2.9.9.6 first, this was a frightening PIA.
