At this year's CES RITEK has demonstrated their newest disc. A disc that can burn Blu-ray on one side and HD-DVD on the other. The perfect disc for those who want to go avoid the format war.
So what do you guys think?

I think at this time it's a waste. What are you going to use to burn the HD-DVD side with

Really double sided DVD discs never seemed to take off and neither did double sided DVD-RAM discs.

    edit:
Though i have DVD's i bought that had both full screen and wide screen on different sides so i don't know.

Yup, that combo-media is a good idea and in theory it should work, but as with other such combined media before, it will fail in the practice. Sad.

Mh, who could burn to both sides?

Counting the available bd burners and the available hddvd burners and then think about what is expected within the next months.

I can see this working for stuff like movie production etc but for backups or something else? Eh? I'd rather get a double sided BD-R(E) or a double sided HD-DVD-R(W) and use that instead if I really really wanted a double sided media. Especially since there are no burners that can do both BD and HD-DVD (yet?).

Just a waste of time imo.

Also imagine the cost of that thing... They have to pay licensing to both authorities.
