Hi, I bought a Sony Blu-ray player, Mod. # BDP-S1 and would like to keep the same brand as I will need an internal Blu-ray burner. I am new to Blu-ray & have a Sony XBR2 60" HD TV.

I see Sony has a burner- Mod. # BDU-X10S priced @ $199.99. Does anyone own this burner? If so/not can someone who knows about Sony burners/players give me a hand on this one.

I will only use the burner for DVDs. I would appreciate any help you can give me. I don't even know what DVD blanks are needed to use with a Blu-ray burner/player. I appreciate all feedback.

I also use AnyDvd & Clone.

Thank you for your feedback.

It appears that I was mistaken regarding this unit. I just read that this is not a writer- only a reader/player. Sorry for the mistake.

The $199 Sony BDU-X10S is Blu-ray reader as well as CD/DVD reader.

If you want a Sony Blu-ray burner, you're looking at BWU-200S which is $599 http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/...&storeId=10151

There are other Blu-ray burners from other brands that are less expensive, if you're interested.

So you're saying the BDU-X10S will burn only regular DVD's? I should have known that $200 was too cheap for a Blu-ray burner. Six hundred $$ is too much for me to backup a few movies from time to time. Any other thoughts?

Sorry, the BDU-X10S is Blu-ray and CD/DVD reader.

Other alternatives are:

LG GGC-H20L (blu-ray reader and CD/DVD burner), $250-$280
LG GGW-H20L (blu-ray burner), $399 or less
Pioneer BDC-202 (Blu-ray reader and CD/DVD burner), $200-ish
Pioneer BDR-202 (Blu-ray burner), $350-ish.
Asus BC-1205PT (Blu-ray reader and CD/DVD burner), $200-ish

The Sony BDU-X10S is a ROM only drive, it cannot burn.
