the GGW-H20 is connected in sata mode (AHCI), maybe for this?
It's the media problem. The GGW-H20L is a good drive but unfortunately the included LG BD-RE isn't! There are many reports from members and I can also confirm (I own two discs) that the LG BD-RE media is pretty much useless.

ho well, the "play test" with computer is perfect!
with my ps3 the video is perfect,
the audio...dunno how to say in english, but i'll try..

the audio backlashes/snaps!
I mean its not constant!!!

i use tsMuxeR_1.8.8b to rip the main movie/audio/subtitles
on the harddisk as ".m2ts" file.
Its was only 21GB so i dont need to resize it to fit the 25gb blu-ray disc, so i use again tsMuxeR_1.8.8b, so i load the ".2mts" file and
create blu-ray output, and then i used ImageBurn to burn it
on the disc.

thats all!

i do something wrong?
or maybe its the disc?
or...(i hope no) the ps3?

tomorrow i'll make a test on my friend samsung BD-1500 to see
if he have the same problem.

any suggestion? thx!!!

Anyway, the audio is "sincronized" with the video, but as i just say before, its not costant and the audio backlashes/snaps!

hope these are the correct words...lol...my english suck!

i'm just trying to figure out why!

humm...
maybe the write speed have something to do?
maybe the codec?

if someone have any idea pls help me!
thx again for your time!

the GGW-H20L work ok with CD and DVD, only have problem with blu-ray...maybe the BD-RE that
i try to burn is corrupted?
help pls!

Did you try to format the media with defect management on ? it's slow but it can detect the damaged area and mark to not use.

Did you test this media with the last firmware YL05 ?

Sorry. For now my major use for BD disks are backup. I will buy a BD player in future.

I tested again the LG disk that comes with GGW-H20L ( 23GB of files ) and found no problems at all ( burning or reading ).

man, i hope this doesn't become a nightmare. i'm running an emachines m6805 laptop (Mobile Athlon 64 3000+, 2GB RAM, 160GB HDD, CD-RW/DVD, Windows XP). it's been my desktop replacement for the past 4 years now. i recently bought the LG GGW-H20N (updated to firmware XL05) and hooked it up through a USB-SATA adapter (Groovy UD-505SA). the weirdest thing- i can write BDR blu ray discs just fine (i had to install the toshiba udf driver), but for some reason it just will not write DVDRs.

i've updated to the latest nero (9 something) and that made no difference. everytime the write process begins, it just hangs and never actually starts writing. the only way to get out of it at that point is to power down or unplug the blu ray drive. i haven't tried CDR yet, as i don't really use that media anymore. and the BDRE that came with the drive has proved to be unwriteable (as others in this thread have mentioned).

anyone have any ideas of how i might remedy this problem? this is the first SATA drive i've ever used, so my assumption faulty as it may be, is that it has something to do with the USB SATA connection or its chipset or missing a tweaked driver or something. anyone else had similar issues?

Maybe bad DVD-R? What is the brand and Manufacturing ID (MID)? Please provide error log so we can take a look.

here's a write test i did with nero discspeed. i don't really comprehend what it means though... oh, i did an overburn test too. the test failed with the message "Error: SCSI Status 0". i guess this means the LG GGW-H20 can't overburn cd/dvd?

@shunsai,

LG drives can't overburn CD/DVD media, so that's probably why it failed.

The last image (Nero DiscSpeed) show buffer issues after 3GB mark since you're using USB-SATA adapter, so you might want to burn at lower speed, ie 8x or 12x.

well, i wasn't able to find a solution to my inability to burn to DVD using my SATA-USB cable... so i bought a PCMCIA SATA card. DVDs burn fine now... i have yet to burn a Blu-ray with it, but i suspect it will burn without a problem. even though i didn't find a real solution to the problem, thanks for the input.

Hi!

I purchased some nice Sony BD-R discs. 4x printable. 4.55 EUR per piece. Import from Japan.
BD Disc Information:
Disc ID: SONY-NN2-02
Disc Type: BD-R

Burned at 4x with IMGBurn approx duration 16 minutes. So a normal 4x burn.

Here are Scans and TRT.

1st - Scan with Speed ~1x - ~2.5x
2nd - Scan with Max Speed
3nd - Transfer rate
4th - for comparisson a pressed disc

I consider the quality OK. Will try to get my hands on a 4x Verbatim printable to have a comparisson.

Bye
