| interesting, but quite bad results. with LG patched you get nice clean read curve and no reading issues.

| This looks like an interface problem, not a drive capability problem. The scan max read speed is ~7x BD which is ~28-30 MB/sec, the curves look like wrong UDMA mode. Which burst rate do you get ?

The drive was connected via an eSATA II 300 interface to my laptop, using a 1 meter lead. I thought the interface would be fast enough (need to check it on the same laptop, which I don't have access to currently).I'll try it again on an internal SATA, but it will be a few days before I can do that...

| Burst rate of the laptop with the eSATA (used above) is 36MB/s:

| Thanks 2601. You must have be a very fast system. 44MB/s is the most I've ever had out of this system. Is you iHES208 using SATA I 1.5G or SATA II 3G?

| Thanks. Hmmm, mine shows SATA I 1.5G. Hard drives on the same controller show SATA II 3G.

| Which CPU load do you get in both cases ? Does AnyDVD change the burst rate result ?
__________________ LiteOn/Benq/LG/NEC/Pioneer/Samsung/Toshiba stuff: MediaCodeSpeedEdit V 1.2.0.2, released August 9th 2009 |
| Burst rate is only 1-2/MBs less with AnyDVD installed (around 40MB/s). CPU usage is 60% on one core compared to 2% at the same point of the read (16GB), where it starts to drop the transfer rate: Without AnyDVD: D00_8L05_BD_CPU_RS_2.png With AnyDVD: D00_8L05_BD_CPU_RS_1.png I also note that with AnyDVD installed the disc is reported as a BD-R (not BD-ROM).

| Looks like a pipelining problem. Data rate is too close to max burst rate, data chunks read are too small, latencies are too high, no prophylactic read ahead by the speed limiting factor AnyDVD, which is worst. Does it help to set the cdspeed affinity mask in the task manager to CPU 0 only ?
