Reports are that Paramount were paid $150 million by HD DVD promotion group for support, so situation is not clear about why each studio chooses which format

I just read a review about the Toshiba HD-DVD burner and I'm shocked.
How could they release such a bad product?

For me HD-DVD is dead in the burner area..........

all japanese crap I still own the last series model of a GRUNDIG Video2000(2X4), this was the finest "made in germany" / europe made VCR technology. they were just on inventing PCM digital audio to superseed VHS-FM audio hifi for hifi-tracks on tape when hollywood killed it by favouring VHS. but, well, indeed, V2000 was really far too expensive for mass market, a design that has required highest quality PAPST precision servo drives had left no room for lowering production costs, even in mass-production, at 80's times

for BR/HDDVD it will go the same way. hollywood (remember, Sony bought itself in many content production companies) made its decision. so it will be BR. HD-DVD was just DOA. forget it.

prices will no more matter when BR is in full chinese mass production, so this in no point at all. they will assure it to maximize content profit.

and remember hollywood is not about quality, it is braindead junk food content. all those "high-defintion" advertisements are just marketing-blabla. what is HD video good for?
do You want to count BW's beard hairs in an action movie? i'm fully satisfied with SD.

HD is just a copy-protection update (look at HDCP) no more, no less. fsck it.

It seems that HD-DVD has a big advantage over Blu-Ray in terms of structure navigation. The iHD structure can remasterized on-the-fly to remove advertising and other restrictions, while Blu-Ray can not.

To say nothing of hardware costs, region free, material that is already interactive, finalized standard (No V1.0, V1.1, V2.0 garbage), ect. Honestly all HD-DVD really needs is additional studio support. If they keep having crazy hardware sales/free movie offers like they have been doing then this could easily fall into place.
