Hello ImToo Software,

I am quite interested in your product Imtoo DVD Ripper Ultimate. I download the latest 5.0.49.0316 version and decided to give it a go. I know that the limitations are 5 minutes maximum length for the trial version so I tried it with a couple of DVD clips less then 5 mins in duration. And here is the problem. The first 3 seconds of the ripped video gets a "blocky" effect and gets stuck for those first 3 seconds, as if some one has chocked the video, while the audio keeps on playing fine . The video and audio will become ok after first 3 seconds.

I am really interested in the Ultimate version, but would be interested in buying it only if there is a solution to this problem or if the bug gets resolved. So is there a solution to this problem ? If so please can you tell me. Thanking you

I can now confirm that my problem, as can be seen in this video here

http://www.savefile.com/files/2060219

is present in all versions of Imtoo DVD Ripper Platinum Pack or Ultimate Pack from version 5.0.46.1113 onwards. Version 5.0.44.0925 was the last version that didnt have the problem that I mentioned above.

I have tried all version from 5.0.44.0925 onwards to the latest builds of Imtoo DVD Ripper Platinum and Ultimate, on both Windows XP and Vista, on on 4 other PCs, 2 on XP Pro and one on Vista and one on Vista SP1, and have also tried tried with 2 Win XP Pro SP3 VMWare image, the problem remains. I have tried selecting the output as divx.avi, and then xvid.avi, then normal .avi, .wmv and even to iPod mp4, and the problems is still the same

I sent personal emails to tech support, and their suggestion of "Force Progressie 24 Hz" using Tools-> Settings -> DVD didnt work. I even played with Audio/Video Synchronisation, nothing worked.

Conclusion, Imtoo software introduced this first 3 seconds bug in every version from v 5.0.46.1113 onwards, and it still remains. So make sure you test your software properly before you decide to buy.

As for me, I have to look at other Imtoo/Xilisoft/4Media alternatives, as they sell the same software with different skins suffering from the same bug.

Hope that helps some one.

Found a solution that finally works for. Use version 5.0.44.0925 and set the Audio ripping quality to either highest or lowest, and all my problems solved . Yes I am talking about Audio and not Video.

All versions after version 5.0.44.0925 have bad videos for first 3 seconds ! Hope that helps someone.

But I am not purchasing the software until Imtoo solves the problem with it's latest version. Cheers

Why dont you try with version 5.0.44.0925 ? It looks like that was the last good version. Just do a google search on Imtoo DVD Ripper Ultimate 5.0.44.0925 and many links should come up.

All version from 5.0.46.1113 to present are quite bad and even the latest 5.0.50.0403 version does liitle to solves our problems. So try with 5.0.44.0925 and report back.

Try this. Make an image of a DVD and load it in Daemon Tools and try to rip the DVD from there. If that works out, it may be something wrong with your DVD hardware drive.

So try with an image in Daemon Tools and report back.

I was using DVD-image (load by Alcohol 120%) to encode all the time already, it doesn't solve my problem as well

I downloaded this version from the site which I believe is the latest version - Imtoo DVD Ripper Ultimate version 5.0.50 Build 0403. The first 3 seconds video chocking problem still remains ! Tried it with 3 different machines and both on XP and Vista. The problem remains ! The problem is NOT solved.

Thanks for the reply Imtoosoft. I hope you guys find a solution soon.

How can I do that in trial version ? Besides why shouldI need to do it anyway. If you are acknowledging that the fault exists in all latest versions, why not trace the bug and solve it rather than going for a work around ?

I have try set the start time to 1 second and it "seems" fixed the video "blocky" problem (I said "seems" because I just try with 1 movie, not accurate to confirm it can completely fix this issue), but the audio not sync problem still exists!

plz check!

I have a different issue with the latest version of Ultimate. It boots up fine and imports the DVD fine. When I click Effects button, the program simply quits, no error message. I also get no preview...the preview window is blank. When I try to rip, it says it ripped it but no player I own will play this. IMTOO has given me several "tips" to try and none of them work.

I recommend you to adjust the frame rate to correct the sync problem.

After loading files to the program you need to select the files you want to convert in list box with your mouse and adjust "Frame Rate" to correct the sync problem. All the settings of the software can be found on the right panel. The default one for "Frame Rate" is "Auto" and you can enter a concrete number for it. You can try these numbers: 15, 23, 29.97, 50 and 60. One of these numbers should work. And after you have adjusted the value please press Enter to enable the setting.

The solution you suggested to me doesn't work at all. The same problem remains after trying with all the frame rates as you have suggested with different DVDs. Version 5.0.44.0925 remains the last proper working version on my PC that doesnt suffer from this problem.

Thanks for the reply imtoosoft. This is the second time you have said that the problem has been solved in the latest version.

Let me say to you for the seond time, the problem has NOT been solved at all. The same problem remains. Please check the software problem yourself before saying that it has been solved.

I repeat the problem has NOT been solved.

I can also confirm having upgraded to DVD Ripper Ultimate V5 a few days ago (to take advantage of multicore processing) that I also have no video (but sound) for the first 3 seconds.

I'm on 5.0.50 build-0703 which I only downloaded from the IMToo site a few days ago.

I also had problems with sound being out of sync, but I wasn't sure if that was the file, settings or the version of the Ripper. I have however now got hold of a copy of Xlisoft Ripper Ultimate from version 5.0.44.0925 and using exactly the same settings as in 5.0.50.0703 I have no problem with the first 3 seconds and the audio and video are perfectly in sync.

Sadly my license for the IMToo version at 5.0.50 does not work in the Xlisoft version so I can only test the first 5 minutes, but it's enough to prove it's a serious bug in the software somewhere after 5.0.44.0925.

So I now need to wait for someone at IMToo to either fix it properly, provide me with an official old version or Xlisoft valid key.
