Everyone seems to want to make SSD's and tablets. There are already too many SSD makers with whose names most consumers aren't familiar.

Come on Kenny, MSI is a household name if you are into computers. They make Video Cards and Motherboards and all kinds of computer stuff, I am surprised they havent come into the market sooner.
I agree many users may not have heard of Patriot or Kingston , most assumed incorrectly they only made RAM but their SSDs are stellar I have both of them and they have excellent, Sandforce controllers. I cant wait for the new Sandforce controllers.

I honestly forget MSI exists. Their products seem to be launched with very little fanfare in my general neck of the woods. I see an occasional news article about their computers and components, and they seem solid, but they don't seem to be doing much to stand out. Hopefully, this decision to put out SSDs pans out for them & they manage to stand out.

Obviously I didn't mean that MSI isn't a widely known brand name among consumers. I still own some MSI and DFI motherboards though they are fewer than those made by some others. Kingston's also a very popular consumer brand. Patriot has been probably far less known in terms of years. I think I've known Kingston for more than 20 years. By unfamiliar names, I meant those even I never heard of. Add to that the various names of importers and distributors of each country and region they overwrite on top of the OEM brand names.
