$Mft Problems

Hi,

Hoping someone can help.

I have a problem where by sometimes, whilst the PC is on, I will get a $Mft error on my second drive, and delayed write failures.

This effectively requires me to re-boot, rescan and recheck the drives etc.

I've looked everywhere for a solution but no luck.

I am running XP SP2, 512Mb RAM and have 2 drives. The first contains the OS and is OK. The second has data and is the one where I have this problem.

Thanks.

Re: $Mft Problems

Master File Table errors could be caused by any number of things from a virus to a failing hard drive. My advice is to backup your data if possible, reformat the drive, then run a diagnostic on the drive. Most drive manufacturers provide some soft of diagnostic utility.
