| Yeah, I am in NYC and it was hot as hell this past weekend. Luckily, almost all of my rigs are in a climate controlled lab!

| Thanks Jane. Hopefully I can make a long term contribution to the team. I'm impressed at how long you guys have been associated with the project. That's commitment! Is there a CD Freaks team on POEM for the Karlsruhe Institute using the BOINC client? |

| You are very welcome! We currently are not involved in POEM, Distributing Computing projects are now becoming like TV shows; There are too many decent/good shows to watch and too little time. Best, Adict

![]() I think now I'll be relying more on improvements in the BOINC code to get things done quicker

| And hello everyone again!!! NEWS NEWS NEWS AND MORE NEWS: 1) Today 10/31/2012 at 14:10:03, we've witnessed the re-installation of BOINC on my work Mac Pro. But mind that there's nothing "Pro" about it though, check the ALL NEW MAC PRO right now on Apple's own website to remember what we used to have 2 years ago... See that? My Mac Pro at work is two generation before THAT... It runs smoothly though on BOINC with 16 simultaneous units so, that should be something... 2) After a long wait, I'm running WCG now on my AMD Radeon HD-6970 with 2GB GDDR5 RAM, but currently underclocked the GPU to 570MHz (880 MHz default), and set memory clock to the lowest possible @1375MHz, while power control reduced to -20%, all to keep the card as cool as possible between 60-75 C max. And so far so good! Fan speed is ranging between 25%-30% which is almost silent, and each unit is taking 2:00 to 3:00 minutes MAX!! And now as the weather gets cooler I'll be able to pump the performance up a notch, my CPU usage time is at 60%, so hopefully at the end of the month I'll be back at 100%!! By the time I finished writing this post, 10 WUs finished processing on the GPU! I'm in love !!

![]() I do not own any GPUs that are capable of running the GPU work units but great to hear that you are able to utilize your firepower! Good call on underclocking at keeping the temps down. I would even turn up the fans a bit to run a little cooler. Keep in mind the power circuitry also gets really hot and is not reported in the software many times. CPUs are made for sustained load but GPUs not so much!

| For the first time in ages I actually seem to be gaining a few spots in the table. For some reason there seem to be very large gaps at certain points in the table and it takes a while to claw your way up. ![]() Wombler

| Genome Comparison project Paper Published! Based on their conclusions, it seems that the analysis of the results is their algorithm can be used to "extract relevant information." I will give it a more in depth read later. http://link.springer.com/chapter/10....642-31927-3_13
