Disc Printing and Labeling Discuss, Dymo Disc Printer at Computer Hardware forum; Just got this in. It is kinda of cool to watch work and does a very good job (better than our HP printer)- The only down sides are price of printer, cost of ink and the need to allow disk to dry for about a minute or ink will smear-

If this is a inkjet printer, it's probably based on either Epson or Lexmark.

The DiscPainter is unlike the inkjet printer disc labeling systems available. It is a small dedicated device that prints full color images and text directly on any silver or white printable disc. It prints at 600 dpi in one minute and 1200 dpi in three minutes.

Dymo Disc PAINTER

Looks like it is a compact printer that will only work with inkjet printable media. Unless it has waterproof ink or lower operating costs, I'm not sure what the real benefit is...

Amazon has it for around $252 USD.

Looks like the single ink cartridge costs around $40 USD and according to Dymo is good for around 100 typical prints.

The colors look dull because it is only a 3-color print system whereas better printers will use 4-6 colors. The Dymo Disc Printer lacks a black cartridge and must mix three colors to get something that looks "sort of" like black.

Read the Amazon.com reviews for more info comparing the Dymo product with Epson printers.

the color looks dull on the dymo disc printer? or on the epson rx680? because the epson uses 6 inks ....

so then the dymo is even worse?

That's my impression in reading the reviews...

Regarding my previous post: I was speaking of the Dymo printer.

The Dymo printer is for people who print 5 discs a year not the everyday fanatic like we are here. The ink cart only will give you about 25 discs and it costs plenty, Its not for people who will use it everyday.

It's a dedicated disc printer? sounds cool, does anyone know if it's available in Europe or if the price has come down any?

Never mind, I just saw it costs GB£240 on SVP, and everywhere else. Waste of money.
