Question: Did anyone have good luck with the Verbatin Glossy Printable CD-R?

I have been testing several Verbatim CD-R Glossy printable and always got an horrible result.

At the bening I thought it was a matter of a consignment non very well done.

Then I bought them again, I mean in different period, in different stores, but nothing changed.

I tried different burning speeds too, nothing to do.

At this point I am very curious to know if I am the only stupid in the world with this problem.

I read somewhere the partnership between Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden is over, in fact these CDs are made by Mitsubishi.

I also tried with different computers, different burners, different burning softwares... just to exclude all possibility of doubt. My burner is an eide Plextor Premium II.

Are those Verbatim CD-Rs made in India?

I have Verbatim Azo CD-Rs made in India which give very bad results.

The first set I bought, before Christmas 2008, it was made in India.

About the last ones I only know they are made by Mistsubishi, they also have a different cover.

I tried to check the manufactured country, but it only says Mitsubishi.

This doesn't really have anything to do with printing.

But, burning 48/52x rated CDRs at low speed is rarely a good idea. The MII CDRs are know to sometimes be troublesome.

Do you mean I could burn an audio CD using a highest speed than 16x?

You could try/test burning at higher speeds - I have a batch of Verbatim AZO CD-Rs that tend to do better at higher speeds (16x-40x) as compared to slower than 16x. That 16x graph you posted might be of a defective disc, which is becoming more commonplace now due to the race for "cheaper" selling discs.

I think that Verbatim is not going to sell the same old good quality like it used to be. Not here in Italy, at least.

Anyway... I might be wrong but I still think that burning an audio CD using a speed higher than 16x it is a sort of suicide!

I tried to burn 32x and I got less error - still too much - but the jitter test was very bad.

So bad that I could not play it in my car's cd player.

So, I still believe that by a good media like T.Y. and for audio CD , 16x is still the good speed.

and, of course, no more Verbatim (glossy or not, printable or not, whatever... ) until they will change this bad production line by Mitsubishi!

If so then Verbatim Pastel CD-Rs from Taiyo Yuden are not out of stock for a limited period, but they have stopped producing them completely
