Da_Taxman used our newssubmit to tell CD Freaks this little story...
A week ago we reported that Windows XP disables mp3 encoding above a certain bitrate. This to try users to 'convince' that Windows Media is a much better alternative. Ofcourse this is not very nice because we all like our mp3 files on CD quality. However with a few simple adjustments in the registry this can be changed.
The mediaplayer in Windows XP will only allow creating mp3 files on 56 kbps. If you add the following options u can choose between 56 Kbps, 64 Kbps, 128 Kbps and 192 Kbps.
The trick |
- Start regedit
- Go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->SOFTWARE->Microsoft->MediaPlayer->Settings->MP3Encoding
- U see the key LowRate and LowRateSample
- Add the following keys:
- "LowRate" = DWORD-Wert 0000dac0
- "MediumRate" = DWORD-Wert 0000fa00
- "MediumHighRate" = DWORD-Wert 0001f400
- "HighRate" = DWORD-Wert 0002ee00
- "LowRate" = DWORD-Wert 0000dac0
- Exit regedit and restart Windows XP.
Now you can make CD quality mp3 files! It that easy...
