Blu-ray: Focus on consumer not HD war

After reaching the 'one million' milestone two months ago, the Blu-ray Disc Association now announces that they have sold two million movies in Europe. Recent GFK figures show that Blu-ray disc sales totalled 2.37 million, which means that 79% of als sales in the HD market were Blu-ray related.

With reaching a new milestone the Blu-ray Disc Association now openly speaks of a new focus. The company thinks they can now focus 'less on winning the format war', and 'more on adressing the needs of the consumer'. Blu-ray now mainly targets in becoming mainstream as a product (high-definition) and as a brand (Blu-ray).

With openly saying that Blu-ray will change their focus to the consumer, they are actually saying that they haven't been doing that before. What do you think that Blu-ray has to do to become both mainstream and consumer-focussed? And will this erase the '$ony scepsis' around the brand?
