Philips introduces eco-friendly HDTV line

Philips USA announced a new HDTV line on Tuesday, together with a matching Blu-ray player. A few 'green' HDTVs with rounded design can officially be considered part of the Dutch company's Eco TV line. A nice feature is the automatic dimmer. An ambient light sensor automatically dims the brightness during darker scenes, which saves energy and power. Besides this eco-friendly outcome, it also improves visual quality by giving the sets the best black levels at any given point.

The 7003 HDTVs come with Philips' Perfect Pixel HD image processing engine and all sets have 120Hz panels. Of course every set is also fitted with four HDMI outputs. Two of the three TVs from the 7003-series are available now, while the company's "top model" is expected to ship next month. The TVs from this series have prices ranging from $1,699 to $2,699.

The 5003-series look the same and should be in shops right now. With a 60Hz panel these TVs are not as good as the ones from the 7003-series, but still do the job fine. The 32-inch model costs you $799, while the 42-, 47-, and 52-inch models are priced at $1,799, $2,099 and $2,899 respectively.
