Warner TotalHD Blu-ray HD-DVD flipper disc put on hold

Twice did an interview with the president of Warner Home Video and found out more about the plans of the company to release a hybrid HD-DVD/Blu-ray Disc format. This disc would be a 'flipper' meaning that on one side there is a HD-DVD layer and on the other side (after the flip) there is a Blu-ray layer. Warner Home Video decided that it would currently be too difficult to release the discs as the company would be the only one to release it.

Warner Home Video is commited to both Blu-ray and HD-DVD but the president does make some statements in the interview. He expects that if Toshiba is able to ship cheap hardware the coming time that it will contribute to the success of HD-DVD and might even make a winner of it, else he expects that the war will go Blu-ray's way.

He also states that he's happy with the amount of high definition disc sales (while we recently reported that they are declining) and is looking forward to Blu-ray 2.0 which he expects will give a boost to web enabled content.
