16x Dual layer burners made in Taiwan are set to drop again. DVD burners
made by companies such as LiteON, BenQ, Asustek and Micro-Star fell from
NT$2,600-2,800 (US$81-88). Along with these various companies reducing prices
Hitachi-LG and Toshiba-Samsung also reduced prices for 16x Dual Layer drives to
NT$2,850-2,900 (US$89-91). Along with these companies NEC and Pioneer also
joined in NT$2950-3,000 (US$92-94). Along with these reductions, retail prices
of local brand 12x Dual burners fell in price along with 8x Dual
burners.

Looks like consumers are getting even better deals on DVD burners. DVD
burners are nearly the same price as the top end CDRW drives now.
I remember when i got my first 4x CDRW Aopen 9420 drive for about £200, now
you can pickup CDRW drives that are 12 times faster for about 1/8th of that
price.
