I had an issue with playback on my Laptop using Windows Media Player Classic but it played fine when streamed to my Xbox Media Center. Maybe it's a codec problem?

Hi
I've not experienced any problems. Playback PowerDVD 5. Backup via AnyDVD + CloneDVD2. Disc region 2 UK.

Created DL bkups with AnyDVD and DVDDecrypter combo and with Express. Both copies look just fine on the hd, burned the express copy just to see if the issue with the LB has been resolved. So far only scanned it...the bkup is fine but still don't know about the LB.

disc is R1 (North America)

it seems the ripping with DVDFab Decrypter (2.9.6.6) caused the problems...
it played MOSTLY OK with PowerDVD, but when it came to the ILVU sections (seamless branching between theatrical and 'uncorked' versions), PowerDVD would sometimes glitch

a rip with DVD Decrypter was perfectly fine over the whole film
it won't be a codec problem - MPEG2 is well-trodden by now and the fact that it behaves differently with 2 different rippers leads me to wonder...

anybody else see (or NOT see) this/these problems using DVDFab Decrypter v2.9.6.6 on the R1 disc???

did I read somewhere that DVDFab Decrypter uses a RAW read mode which bypasses some of the error checking inherent in DVD Decrypter (and hence ripping a scratched or damaged disc could cause problems)???

I burned the whole disc on RitikRedata D01 DL using Fab Gold. I almost forgot how annoying all the previews are as I am use to just burning main movie. Yes Gold now does DL.

I'll throw this in - ripped/burned "main movie" with fab express(2.9.6.5) to -R (TY). Short time in movie, playback froze, couldn't recover. However restarted, and played through same spot fine, but haven't finished flick yet to see if would occur in another spot. This on standalone panny, which actually I suspect might be having issues of own. Anyone know if this a symptom of the "blank sector" issue I have seen posts about, but yet be fine on another playback try? thanks.

I suspect there is blank sectors as when I was copying it with Gold, It speeded up after 7 and on a few seconds was at 10. I can't remember what was in front of the numbers. I made full copy on a Ritek Redata DL D01 using Gold. I watched the uncorked title and no problem, will watch the theater title over weekend. Not sure if I want to do complete disc much because I'm use to movie starting instead of all the previews.

Thanks Mack, I agree on no complete disc for most titles, actually on this flick I did two SL's for both versions. Figure for disc cost, about 45 cents total! I did preview both versions, one, uncorked, didn't freeze at all during this small test. Will know better after weekend.

I was mainly wanting to test the DL Disc since they got so many negative replies. They seam to work good as long as you take your time. I was on another forum and a guy was calabrating his burner which he said that after firmware updates you have to run a few discs for it to learn. Also mentioned that a little jar even walking around on floor can cause bad burns on DLs. I guess us old dogs can still learn.

I used DVDFab Platinum Gold 2.9.6.5 and an Ridata DL disc to backup Wedding Crashers R1 version. Just watched it last night and it froze at the uncorked spots. I had to use my remote for my DVD player and FF to get the movie to continue.

Larry, Mack, Greg, et al., re: DL burns and wedding crashers. I just burned a bkup of this movie with express...just to see. If you recall when gmacs and I were experimenting, the express copy played ok but the LB was way obvious...almost like back in the 1950's matinees, when the A-V guy swapped the reels...yeah, I know I'm old!...gold was slightly better re: the LB, and dvd decrypter in combo with AnyDVD was awesome.

Anyway, same thing this time, express copy played fine except for the LB "reel swap". I did not experience any of the freezing that greg reported. I used the last of my RICOHJPN D00 discs...next time it'll be the D01s (last 25-spindle)!

Mack, you are soooo right about the "extras". They are really annoying! One of the major reasons that I still love express.

Tom/Mack, 10-4 on just main movie - 99% of time, that is all worth backing up!

This movie contains "InterActual Player" with a script to auto run when the DVD is inserted prompting you to install this player. Read Me reveals InterActual Player (c) 1997-2004, InterActual Technologies, Inc. InterActual Technologies is a Sonic Solutions Company Version 2.05.10.0325 for Windows March 2004

http://www.interactual.com or http://player.interactual.com

Also a MAC folder. This may explain why there problems backing up this movie and running on a computer.

I seriously hope no one is actually installing this piece of crap spyware (InterActual Player) on their system. Regular scans of your system should pick this up...last I knew, even adaware (freeware by lavasoft) was effective.

I remember those days to Tom. Had a small locally owned theater and cost a dime admission. Popcorn was a dime and a coke for a nickel. I remember one day I went with some friends and only had a dime, but admission had gone to 12 cents. The woman selling tickets told me to go inside and talk with Mr. Brockman the owner ho also took tickets and tore half off returning the other half to you. I told him that I did not know admission had gone up and only had a dime. He reached in his pocket and found 2 pennies, gave them to me, and told me to go back out and buy a ticket which I did. later in life I learned that Mr. Brockman had done that for many people even giving them the total fee if a series was playing and the had no money. I was same story all the time, he would not just let you go on in for free. He gave them the money and they had to go back out and buy a ticket, come back in and he would take the ticket and tear it returning the other half. So little flaws do not bother me because it is seldom I can make it through a movie without pausing for a bathroom break. With the Lighteon 5005 you recommended when a scene freezes, push a button to start advancing frame by frame and hit play quickly.

Hi magic144,

Could you please send me all the .IFO files on Original disc? It's possible that new ripping process of DVDFab Decrypter may cause seemless data corrupt, I'll check it when I receive the .IFO files.

My e-mail is: fengtao (at) dvdidle.com, please replace (at) with @.

Thanks!

Best Regards,
Fengtao

Fengtao, Good to see you. I posted above that the original Wedding Crasher disc has "InterActual Player" on it and a script to auto run burner when disc is installed. I does prompt before installing and you can click it off. I burnt it with Gold on RitekD01 DL with no problem on 1 player and 1 freeze on the other one that I can pass by frame by frame. I did not see this until I was through burning and assume you got a burning log as it connect to net to your site after finalizing. I hope this is what it is doing as there have been several questions about the calling home. This was on Jan 5. I verified that "InterActual Player" was on the disc using Win Explorer. Also saw the auto run script and a readme file. Thanks for DL option in Gold.

Good story Mack, I remember $0.15 as a pretty steady price back in Connecticut, where I grew up. Mostly, it was right at the matinee where I received my massive weekly earnings of $0.35 from my older brother for doing 1/2 of his paper route.
Anyway, three cheers for the "Mr. Brockmans" of this world...

Hi bigmacnc,

Do you use "Copy disc fully" function of DVDFab Gold to burn DL? Since DVDFab Gold will not copy "InterActual Player" onto backup disc.

Best Regards,
Fengtao

Hi Fengtao, yes it is good to see you back...looking foward to your new version of platinum and it's added features.

Re: wedding crashers, I burned a bkup to a DL disc (RICOHJPN D00) using express - "Complete disc". I'd be happy to send you the burnlog if you wish.

Yes I did, but the original is the one that had "InterActual Player" so I was reporting that the pop up could be part of the problem copying for others. My whole disc copy on DL worked great. One slight freeze in uncorked title that was easy over come and none in the theater title. No signs of layer break. Looking forward to the new version. Glad it does not copy that player over.

I thought the very same thing and then I wondered, is it just my perspective and age?... No, the world really is, a very different place...at least in the U.S.
