Could the subtitles be from the TV and not the DVD? Even if i removed them from the backed up disk itself?

This can also happen if the DVD has closed captions and captioning is accidently turned on with the TV remote. If it is closed captions, they normally appear as white letters in a black box; subtitles appear to float over the video and can be different colors.

Could you make a PDF file of the documentation so we can download and print offline?

I would like to see the explanation how to edit XML profiles because the file X:\Program files\DVDFab 5\Profiles\Readme\profile_document.xml is old and some new options are not documented and some old options are not documented very well like this:

<video>
<deinterlace mode="0" method="0"/>
<!-- deinterlace
mode - specify video deinterlace mode, support value = "0" - auto decide deinterlace or not, "1" - force deinterlace
-->

OK, but and what about the setting method?

I agree, there is now a lot of parameters in the profile files that is not explained in this file.

Guide pages for several modes/features have been updated. They are shown in red on the sidebar menu.

There is new or revised content in the Guide for the following pages:
Main Features
Main Movie
Customize
Settings->General
Settings->Preview
Settings->Write (includes an explanation of the decision logic for the new "auto" write mode choice)

Suggestions, questions, requests for new content are always welcome. Please post them in this thread.

A. This is an inappropriate thread to place your question as it may be missed and advice not given. Please start up a thread of your own,
B. Have you tried double clicking on the .REG file that should have been emailed you without havein FAB open?

This is the best way to register FAB. The manual input of the reg key required removing the asterisks, you can not just copy & past.

If all fails, do a "CLEAN UNINSTALL" as indicated in my good friends signature. (You will find posts by him everywhere in this forum), download the latest version from www.dvdfab.com and reinstall and then use the double click process to register.

You must also have "Administrator" privileges on the machine you are trying to install.

Hi

Has anyone experienced DVDFab damaging an original? I was copying a Stargate disk and it stopped in the middle and when I played the original again it kept stopping and I had pixel problems

No, this can never be caused by DVDfab. It only reads the disc.

Maybe you've got a defective drive.

Fangtao,
Thanks for the great guide. It has helped me out already. Boy, what a great opening to the olympics on 8/8/08.
Wish I could have been there.
Thanks again,
The Zip

I am having problems updating my software I currently use version 5.050. This version works fine and I don't have any problems with using it.
I have tried to upgrade to the last two versions. It installs without any problems, and starts fine. It goes through the copy process with not issues, and opens the drive; but instead of asking to have a blank disk installed, it complets the copy process without allowing a writing process. I made sure that the dvd writer was selected.
Can anyone help with this issue??
Thanks

Sorry you are having trouble. You need to start a new thread about the problem. This thread is about the Guide and you will get help faster with your own thread.

Hello,

For my own use I have created a Word 2007 version of the Guide. It exists
as 4 files, so that I can update the bit that changes without altering the layout of the rest. Each file is about 0.5 Mbyte in docx format. There have been no changes to the text other then font sizing and layout, and resizing of images to fit better on A4 pages. It is currently up to date 16 Dec 2008.

If the membership would be interested, can an Administrator let me know how they would like to receive these files and make them available. Options for these files include doc or docx, and A4 pages at the moment.

Robert, thank you for your efforts. Several users have requested this. I wrote a good bit of the material in the Guide and have tried to find an easy conversion to PDF that would be easy to update, but could not get the file size down to manageable levels. Fengtao has never said how he feels about a downloadable version of the Guide--I think his concern is that out of date versions might circulate that would not reflect current features of the product. It is hard enough to keep it updated on his site with the frequent changes/fixes/new features that we all enjoy as users. If you would like to email what you have to me I can upload it to his ftp server for him to review and decide how to proceed. I have given him full rights and control over all the content I've produced. Send me a PM and I will send you an email address. And thanks again for the efforts.

alonzowireman: I've removed your email address from your post to save you from the inevitable spam bots. Don't post your email address publicly for your own sake. If you need to share email addresses, either do so over PM or do something like the following: emailuser-at-gmail.com.

Hi Signals,

I'm sending this quick reply just to ensure it does not get

You can copy a DVD to your hard drive with DVDFab 1) as a DVD folder with any of the DVD to DVD modes (Main Movie, Full Disc etc.) by clicking on the folder icon in the Target line or 2) as a smaller MPEG-4 file (AVI, MP4 etc.) using any of the DVD to Mobile copy modes. You must enjoy getting junk email. It is really not a good idea to post an email address that you use or value in a public forum.

Robert
I sent you a PM with the email address. Thanks.

I notice there is no Blue Ray tutorial on the Guide, is there another Guide for this, or is there some other Guide somewhere else?
