| "Full Disk" Copies will NOT play properly I recently purchased DVDFab Platinum and was excited to finally be able to make copies of my commercial DVDs, so I proceeded to copy about a dozen of them. The copies all seemed to play fine on my computer, but when I took them downstairs to play on my Pioneer HDD/DVD Recorder (model DVR-650H-K) about half of them start to play OK, but then somewhere in the movie, they get stuck and will not play to the end. Very frustrating. When I look at the six DVDs that will not play on my Pioneer DVD player here is what they have in common: 1) They were copied using the "Full Disk" option of DVDFab 2) They were copied to Memorex DVD+R DL media (DVD9) I have since copied all these DVD's using the "Main Movie" option of DVDFab to Maxell DVD+R media (DVD5) and they play fine on my Pioneer DVD Player. I have not tried using the "Clone" option yet. But I would like to know why the "Full Disk" option of DVDFab is producing these errors for me. |

| Re: "Full Disk" Copies will NOT play properly This is most likely because of the DL media you're using. The only reliable DL media is Verbatim DVD+R DL 2.4x (MKM-001-00 dye) made in Singapore burned at 2.4x.

| Re: "Full Disk" Copies will NOT play properly There is one other thing I thought about after burning these DVDs: The option under "Common Settings" to Set booktype to DVD-ROM (Only for DVD+R/RW media) was NOT ticked when I made these DVD copies. Should it have been? Would that have made a difference? |

You're using DVD+R DL media. What booktype setting do you have for this media? What burning engine are you using? Edit: Forgot to mention that your drive and firmware play a very important role in a successful burn.

| Re: "Full Disk" Copies will NOT play properly Thanks for your input, I appreciate the time your taking to help me with this. Uh ... I'm not sure about the booktype setting - where do I find that information? I've been using the default, which is VSO Burning Engine, but I also have options for Nero Burning ROM and ImgBurn. Should I try one of those? My computer DVD Drive is a Sony DRU-820A, on which I recently updated the firmware to the latest (1.0c) version |

| Re: "Full Disk" Copies will NOT play properly While all 3 of the burning engines you mention can burn DL media, I find ImgBurn to be the most reliable. Inside ImgBurn's settings, you have the ability to do so much including settings for different media. If you select to booktype DVD+R DL to DVD-ROM, it will remember that setting. Some drives cannot change booktype or are limited in their settings. Posting a log file can provide a lot of information. Edit: You should have no problems with that drive and firmware.

| Re: "Full Disk" Copies will NOT play properly Hmm ... I changed the Write option in DVDFab to select the ImgBurn engine (I also left the checkmark in Set booktype to DVD-ROM). In ImgBurns settings, I selected Tools; Drive; Change Booktype; (Sony is not listed as an OEM, co just just selected OK), but no more options were offered, so it appears that my Drive may not allow me to changes this setting - Am I right? I'm quite new to this, and thus a bit ignorant, so forgive me if my questions/comments are obvious, but: Why do my DVD copies play fine on my computer, but not on my Pioneer DVD PVR? Also, all those settings available in ImgBurn are a bit intimidating to me as I know very little about what they mean. Do you have any suggestions on perhaps what main settings are important for me to look at? |

| Re: "Full Disk" Copies will NOT play properly They don't play on your player but they may play on another. That's why Verbatim is most recommended because it the most compatible. You can read about the write settings here: http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?s...ndpost&p=65050 For all the settings: http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=6232 If you're intrested in learning a lot: http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showforum=4

| Re: "Full Disk" Copies will NOT play properly Thanks for the links and the info ... I've obviously got a bit of a learning curve in order to get up-to-speed on all this. |
