I would like to see a batch encode system for doing generic xvid+mp3 encoding, where i could have all the ripped VOB files on my hard-drive, ie, multiple folders containing the dvd's of a tv series, and then set it up to encode them all at once...

That way i could leave it encoding overnight whilst i slept, and not have to encode each dvd 1 at a time...

Not sure how much time and effort this would involve, but it sure would be useful when encoding lots of episodes on multiple dvds for a tv series...

If I correctly understand what you are requesting, DVDFab will do this now. To get exactly what you want, you may need to do the rips with Merge mode, but DVD to Mobile will let you load multiple sources: just click on the Source folder icon again after Configure (instead of Start) and Fab will load another folder to process. When you have a night's worth loaded and configured, then click Start and hit the hay. Each title will produce a separate AVI when batch processed this way. See the links in my sig for Merge Mode and the one for making MP3s if you want to experiment with that.

Hi

I would like to see an option to make .mkv (matroska format) files.
Maybe it can be an option after making a mobile format or directly from DVD.

Btw does DVDFab platinum support HD dvd and/org Bluray?

I really like your software

Clone mode does this now (uncheck "Delete Temporary Files When Done" in Common Settings) but does not compress or otherwise alter the content.

Please please add the option to:

Change the label name from the default. I've had 16 movies in the last week with the generic label "DVD_VIDEO" which means each time I have to manually change the folder name after the backup.

The ability to supress the "Process Complete" pop up that interferes with a seamless batch backup.

The ability to create the target label in batch backup

Sorry, Raymond, I don't think it can be done at the present time. Perhaps Fengtao can add this feature for those modes in a future release.

Did a casual look through all 13 pages (and didn't see this request) and I hope I'm not double posting.

Can the makers of DVD Platinum (great product by the way) support DPG files? Since they already support the PSP and the IPOD...why not the Nintendo Ds?? I've just gotten a R4 unit for my kid and though they love to watch movies on the DS, the process of converting it to a DPG file is very tedious, espcially since I have to use other software to do it. So how about it?

A site for downloading previous versions of DVDFab would be nice. I've noticed that some versions seem to work better than others for different people and different applications. I save all versions on CDs and am using version 3.0.9.0 Beta right now. I only use DVD to DVD modes and am slow to change versions when I find one that works good. No DL coasters, no read or write errors, no finalization problems. This may not be practical and was just a thought.

I recall a post by Fengtao re: this...quite some time ago. He chose not to provide older versions because of piracy. Sorry, don't remember the specifics.
I know some of his competitors do likewise.

Thank you maineman, that makes sense. No worries, CDs are cheap like me, but I'm not easy.

One of the big reasons was newbies would download the wrong program withe the older ones so easily obtainable in addition to people selling the products on sites not authorized to sell fengtao SW. If someone really needs an older version, there are plenty of users that save older downloads, but reverting back they have to think about it before reverting.

You can do this all ready, unless I'm not understading you correctly.
Once you choose your various titles, etc., in customize, simply choose the .ISO icon (to the right of the target drop down).

Fengtao,
In DVD to Mobile mode, the converted videos look darker than the original. The quality of the converted videos could be much better if some type of "auto contrast and brigthness" is implemented. This can be quite a sophisticated feature with full control and preview for contrast, brigthness and gamma however it seems most videos just need a "standard" correction and probably just a "tick box" for auto correction of contrast and brigthness can be very useful and easy to use. Thank you .

You can sort of get wround this by setting a speed in Common Settings that you know your burner can't accomodate, such as 24X. Fab will then pop up the write speed box every time. The downside is that it doesn't come up until after the copying process (Task 1) is finished and has a 30 second timer, so you have to be right there when it comes up to be able to use it; no way to start the process and just walk away. Hopefully this will change.
Hi signals,

thanks for the answer and i will try your trick, pretty clever.

thanks again

I have to admit, for a while I kept using the Free Trial versions, and just updating every time a new version came out, and was just generally being a cheap ass. But cause I loved the product so much, I paid the price for the Platinum, cause I just think its worth it, with all the work thats gone into this software. Ive never actually had a problem copying any of my movies with just this program, and have used quite a few others that required multiple programs be installed to run in the background, all the time mind you, just to make a basic copy. Well thats the end of my horrible late night infomercial rant.

I know its been mentioned at least once already, but I would love to be able to have a few more options of what gets burned. Mostly, one thing I noticed from DVD Shrink that I actually liked a lot, was the fact that I could choose to leave out certain languages to be copied. Id always just go through, and uncheck anything that wasnt english. It helped free up space so I could have a better quality copy, than if I copied all the languages like French, Indonesian, Japanese, and a few obscure languages that Ive never heard of. I just really dont need those languages, and they do sometimes eat up a bit of memory.

Also, I dont know if its possible, and its not something Ive ever commonly done, but I have one DVD (Ghost in the Shell Innocence) which I purchased a region 2, and have gone through a painstaking process of finding out how to convert it from PAL to NTSC. I doubt Ill purchase any more Region 2 DVDs, but the Region 1 version of the movie was subtitled, and I wanted it dubbed. That said, if you could provide the option to convert from PAL to NTSC, Id greatly appreciate it if the need ever arose again.

Keep up the great work!

Hi Megaman, glad to have you as a fellow user (legit) and we'll call it a "late afternoon rant" over here . As to the language tracks, you can eliminate them in DVDFab in much the same way as in DVDShrink. Just use Main Movie or Customize modes and UNcheck the boxes for the language tracks you don't want to include. You could probably also "un-subtitle" the R1 version of your R2 PAL disc using Customize (unless the subtitles were optically printed onto the film negative). And welcome to the forum as well.

As a brand new user, one of the things I'd most like to see is an Xbox360 profile -- with support for all the new video streaming goodness in the Spring Update. (Of course, I'm sure this isn't the first request for this feature, but I do have to admit that this is one of the things that drew me to DVDFab to begin with.)

Anyways, thanks for making an excellent program. It's much appreciated,

Donovan

When installing a new version, have the DVDFab installer remember where last version was installed instead of always pointing to C:\Program Files\DVDFab...
