| Before I tried any of the solutions that were presented to me I found an older version (5.1.1.0) and replaced the newer version with it. So I just used 5.1.1.0 and it solved my problem. So I guess for now I will just stick with what I got going. But thank you everyone for trying. |

| I have this same issue, hopefully I can be more clear than the previous poster. I used this early this afternoon with version 5.1.0.0, and it was working just fine, and had to upgrade to 5.2.3.0 to copy Bangkok Dangerous. However since the upgrade, the .iso is never created. The temp files are. The iso is not hidden, it is simply non-existent. When the process starts it shows 1 task. After it is complete no processing takes place. I hope this helps, and if anyone has ideas on how to fix this or workaround (I'd really prefer a .iso to folder) I'd appriciate it. Edit: Oh almost forget... yes I have plenty of free space... (300gb) Edit again: Whoops only shows 1 task not 2. |

| Further information: the temp files only totaled around 2 gb of the 6.7 there should have been. When simply backing up to a folder it resulted in the correct size. Trying to make a ISO out of the folder resulted in DVD fab immediately reporting success (but no file created). DVD shrink was however able to make a .iso from the directory created, so at least I have a work around. |

| Not sure what is going on with your system, I never do ISO backups...but I tried to reproduce this issue and could not I used the VSO burn engine and ImgBurn both using different settings and each time the ISO file was created, course ImgBurn did create two files not sure why that is but again like I said I don't mess with ISO backups

| StormJumper I think the common thread here is we are all using the free version that it where the problem is. Vyp3r I have came to the conclusion that this is a bug in the free version. The last working version for me where a iso was saved is version 5.1.2.2. I noticed the same at the tasks that it only shows 1/1 where as before there would be 2 tasks. I reinstalled 5.1.2.2 and the iso feature is working again. |

| GARRETC33 I would also run a complete virus scan[to make sure it isn't a trojan messing with your system] Next try a disk clean up get rid of any old files, pictures, that you don't want anymore. NEXT do a system restore back a week to when it was working well. Then reinstall the new version of DVDFAB 5.2.2.6. Maybe it will solve the problem. ZAP. |

| Yes I normally just click the iso icon to the right of target and on the next popup it shows the iso save path with the name.iso. and normally just press ok and it works however I did try clicking the ... button to the right and clicking save again when it opens the browse dialog box with the named iso in the file name field. I dont click the one next to source because I normally getting this from a disc and not a file. |

| GARRETC33 et. al.: I've been dealing with the same issue (free version, not Gold or Platinum) and have watched these threads wander around talking about VSO maybe disappearing or viruses or reinstalling or whatever. I say don't bother wasting your time with all that. As far as I can tell the feature set of the free product have just up and changed. Look at the main page: http://www.dvdfab.com/fab-compare.htm For "DVDFab HD Decrypter" the feature "'Write Data' to .... convert DVD folder to ISO image file" is clearly unchecked, though that seems to me to be a very recent change (this worked fine for me for well over a year and no, didn't crack or modify it or anything, just used the limited free version). Always had the two tasks and all that, but definitely was limited otherwise. I only recently found out that some ISOs I made silently didn't get created, and no, there's NO write options for common settings in the *free* version. ImgBurn works but only if you use it separately on the VIDEO_TS folder. To summarize: if you are using the free version apparently you evidently cannot create ISOs directly anymore. I don't understand why the ISO button isn't greyed out or doesn't pop up the "buy me" box (it should be, same as other features are unavailable do that). At least it would reduce people's confusion. As for ISOs, I'm in the minority too in terms of wanting to directly create them but I find them handy and compact (I use PowerDVD 7 to view movies and using IFO or VOBs never worked very well versus a Virtual Clonedrive mounted ISO). If you have a better idea (or a better *and* as or more stable player) I'm certainly happy to hear what it is. PowerDVD is somewhat annoying but it works better than WMP or MPC for DVD movies. :-) |

As far as the issue being anything other than the update, I doubt it. I literally backed up a movie right before the update and attempted to back up another right after, and it "silently" as the previous poster put it, failed to create the .ISO, with both of them (including the one that worked before the update). FYI for others experiencing this problem, a workaround is to just backup to a folder, and then use DVD shrink to convert that folder to an ISO. If you don't want to lose quality, be sure to set compression OFF! |

Can anyone out there having this problem please try a little experiment for me? I have the platinum version, and as such, no longer have any access to the DVDFab HD decrypter free version. There may indeed have been a change in the freebie, but I don't think ISO has been eliminated... that's what this experiment will demonstrate. Whatever version you're using (preferably, a newer one, 5.2.2.0 or newer), take a DVD - any DVD you know the version can handle - and set it up for either a Full Disc or Main Movie Copy - shouldn't make a difference... Set Up Target for the rip as your HD - not another DVD. When that's done, and we know that part works, set up source to where you saved the rip, set up target as whatever Fab gives you as default when you click on ISO button for writing to your HD, NOT another DVD. Let me know if that works... O'C |

Took about 15 min to extract the DVD as usual (to a folder). Then I did the folder to ISO step: wow, it took 0.1 seconds! :-D Yeah, it still doesn't work, and does so quickly and silently, rather than saying "hey, buy this feature!" |

OK...thanks anyway...I wasn't sure, as using ver. 5.2.3.0. I can do that conversion, exactly as I asked you to do it, from Fab Platinum. ISO conversion may be disabled in the freebie on writes to the HD, but should still be available if you run Imgburn as a seperate entity, and use it to convert the de-copy protected file to an ISO, and you'll have the option to write to either your HD or another DVD. I guess Fengtao didn't want the freebie too featured, as people wouldn't buy Fab if the Freebie could do all they needed with it. Depends on how you look at the situation. O'C |

| I don't think was removed or Fengtao's intent to force users to upgade to Gold or Platinum, one can always use DVDFab HD Decrypter to rip to the HDD then just use ImgBurn to create the ISO image so he would not gain anything by doing so...course would not be the first time I have been wrong

| I'm having the same issue with ISOs not being created. Looking at the DVDFab screen after the "Success" dialog appears, I see that the list of tasks to complete is "1/1", when in past versions is was always "2/2" when creating an ISO (screenshot is attached). I'm guessing the first tasks is to extract the VOB files in the VIDEO_TS folder, and then the second task would be to create the ISO from the VOB files, and this step is just not being performed. I'm guessing this is either a bug or possibly a precursor to removing the feature. I'm hoping for the former, but I guess I can always rip to a folder then use good ol' DVD Shrink, or just bite the bullet and buy DVDFab Plat. |

| Don't know about the free version concerning making an .iso. With the paid version, DVDFab itself is not doing the conversion. I just tried to make an .iso from a previous DVDFab rip to hard drive. Instead of DVDFab converting it to .iso, it rips the video_ts and audio_ts folders completely again and puts them in the temp folder and then Imgburn opened (I have Imgburn set in DVDFab to burn instead of the VSO engine) and made the .iso from the second rip from the temp folder. Thats a whole second rip for nothing. If DVDFab did the conversion from the source to .iso on it's own in a free version, dunno what's up with the way it's doing this now. I doubt now I'll ever use DVDFab to make an .iso. Too time consuming. I would just open Imgburn (or DVDShrink) directly and do it, eliminating a second rip. It appears that DVDFab doesn't do a iso conversion straight from the source, rather it has to make a video_ts/audio_ts first and then have Imgburn do the conversion afterwards.

I just did a test for ISO support and was able to make an ISO image file using both ImgBurn and the VSO burn engine and they both created the ISO file, not sure what version you are running but me I'm still using version 5232 of Platinum . I myself never mess with the ISO image format but did this time just to test, and your right when using ImgBurn as the burn engine it is opened to make the file but not when you have the VSO selected.
