For a beta release, Fab 3 is simply outstanding!...
...have had great success with all modes including clone. The exceptions in clone mode, for me personally, were Poseidon and Final Destination 3. These were problematic. I don't want to revisit my issues, but I was experiencing disc structure issues, system wide conflicts, etc., etc. I was about to swap out my main hdd to a bkup clone, but was able to normalize things with a system restore.

Anyway, I've done about 4 movies and 8-10 season discs, all in clone mode, flawless bkups. In scrutinizing the LB, it was totally absent or all but indiscernible...literally the blink of an eye...no freezing, no pixelation, etc. Tested on three dvd players and a standalone Liteon recorder, no playback issues whatsoever.
Tomorrow, I plan on trying the two problem discs again...I'll post back with results.

As alan1476 put it,"... I think this product could be the cream of the crop when finished...."
I couldn't agree more...
Hell, just think Microsoft, the final versions are beta for years...

@igmacnc

I know that, but why is the button here in beta, should be activated in final and not in beta.

Still will not recognize my Plextor 760A as a source drive, but it does recognize all my other drives.

Continue to be very impressed with this product.
Just did "the Sentinel" - Fab3 Beta3 - FS, main movie, SL with 72 % compression...flawless bkup. Total 1 click copy (read & write) time = 20:43.

@alan...
Yeah, I've had substantially more recognition trouble with my Benq 1655 than my Liteons...165H6S, 1693s, 1633s. Initially, I thought it was my impatience in selecting functions too quickly...that was part of it, but not the whole answer for sure. Ultimately, I can force recognition.

If I remember right...you've never had Fab3 recognize your Plextor 760A, at all. Will the plextor work as the target burner?
I wonder what gives?...still in beta version though.

Yes it recognizes it as the dentination drive. But I just realized it doesn't recognize my BenQ 1655 at all, either source or destination, I think this program will only recognize 4 drives and I have more than that installed on my system. Its funny because the other DVD Fab products recognize all my drives.

Damn peculiar...
I'm only running the 1655 and the 165H6S in my custom - didn't realize the Asus mb had 4 Sata but only 1 IDE connect...what's with that? Oh well, my own fault...
Anyway, the Benq is primary and of the two, is the only one with recognition problems. I've uninstalled, reinstalled off device manager...unplugged and replugged cables, changed jumpers, etc., etc.,...nothing seems to matter.

So its not just me, you have recognition problems with your BenQ also. I was beginning to think their was something worng here. But having said that, all the other DVD Fab products Gold and Express recognize them great so the problem has to be with this proggy, I have sent Feng Tao the log. If you try to chose the Benq or the Plextor the program closes with an error.

Alan, for some strange reason, when I use the 1655 as the source I get read errors but if I put the same disc in the 1650 or the samsung this beta sees it perfectly with no errors.

If I use the same movie with the 1655 in Clone, Shrink, 1Click I do not get the read errors, this is weird.

one more thing today i rnted "united 93"...couldn't decryt it with nero recode2[latest],and clonedvd2[latest]..and anydvd.."bad sectors"
beta3 couldn't read bad sectors either..
so i tried dvdfab 2.9.8.3...it did it,,works well,,so i think beta has more job to do.

I really hope this does not say you rented this movie and tried to copy it. This is against forum rules. Please use common sense when posting and read the rules of the forum.

alan1476, does Windows recognizes the disc in Plextor 760A / BenQ 1655 ? does DVDFab 2 has no problem to recognize the two drives in both source and target ?

acuariano, please exit AnyDVD, and try DVDFab 3 again to see the result, because it may conflict.

If it still fail, please send us all the .IFO files on Original disc, then we will check the problem.

A recommended way is listed below:
1) Make sure AnyDVD is not running.
2) Open an Explorer window, and navigate to VIDEO_TS folder of the DVD.
3) Copy all files ending with .IFO to hard disk.
4) ZIP the IFO files on hard disk to one file. Name it with a readable filename, like Stealth_UK.zip.
5) Send the zip file to fengtao(at)dvdidle.com, you need replace (at) with @.

Best Regards,
Fengtao

Just tried version 3 beta 3 and noted the following: If DVDFAB 3 is started first it does not recognize the drive or a movie later inserted in the DVD burner either as source or destination - no scanning window appears. If DVDFAB 3 is started after the movie disk is inserted in the burner, the movie and burner (as both source and destination) are recognized!!
This is using an external USB 2.0 Benq 1655 burner on a notebook computer under Windows XP with all updates. Beta 2 would recognize movie DVD's after the FAB program was running.

Should Beta 2 be removed prior to loading Beta 3 or will Beta 3 overwrite Beta 2??

Well, for me, it's true that the recognition is better when both drives are loaded and you give the app a chance to open...it's just not wholly consistent . I haven't figured it out yet. I will say, the recognition problem has gotten better with this last beta release.

You can go ahead and install and overwrite just as you would usually do with fab, but you may want to keep the previous version saved in case you want to revert...I doubt you'll need to with these beta versions though.

I just removed BETA 3 version 3 and it also removed my Version 2.9.8.5 Beta 3 at the same time! I installed both again but specified different directories. Version 2.9.8.5 works fine but version 3 still will not recognize a movie or burner that is inserted if FAB 3 is started first. Insert the movie first and then start FAB 3 and the drive and movie are recognized. For me the recognition problem has gotten worse!

Tried the same thing I did in post 93 and Beta 3 would still not scan for a movie if the movie was entered after FAB 3 was started!

My 3.0 beta3 recognizes the drive and will will list name of movie when analyzing, but continues analyzing becoming not responding. I plan to do some trouble shooting later.

Hi Guys,

What the heck is the clone dvd to dvd option for in Fab 3.0? Is that for copying dvd's that need no compression or copying data dvd's?

Hi rogman49,

"Clone" feature of DVDFab 3 can be used to:
1) Copy dual layer DVD movie disc to dual layer DVDR perfectly, since it will re-use the original layer break position.
2) Copy single layer DVD movie disc too
3) Copy data DVD disc, such as PS2 game disc.

Best Regards,
Fengtao

Just to add to what Fengtao said...
I've used clone mode at least 12 times, both for movies and episodic discs. Works like a charm...only exceptions were 2 "problematic" movies. Since installing the new beta, I've cloned one of the problem discs and about to try try second. This great software just gets better and better.

Hi Maineman,

What kind of dual layer blanks are you using? I was thinking Verbatim.

And you would be exactly right in your thinking...
Verbatim DL +R is the only recommended media here on cdf and practically everywhere else. I'm using MKM 001
Check-out cdf's Bargain Basement.
Here's a specific thread for these babies:
Verbatim DL +R.
