Thanks Bigmacnc. Only a couple of points. I don't know how to clean the registry! Three has recognized at least four other disc's without this happening. 2.9.8.5 copy's BB perfectly. I have the lastest version of 3 as I only installed it on Friday gone! And lastly I have only just recently finished re-installing XP(Friday) so surely that should not be the problem? Whilst I'm on, do you know a site from were I can download DVD Shrink from safely?

There are several things that could cause your problem that was the way I resolved mine. I have been looking at several fixes but most I do not understand enough to recommend yet. For downloading Shrink go to following site and look for posts by "bluetach" he has links in is signature to Shrink and many other programs. Also "Cynthia" has written several great tutorials on different programs. You will need to register, but it is free, For legal reasons several download sites have taken down Shrink and DVD decrypter.

As long as your comfortable using a registry cleaner, I'd recommend Regseeker, it's free, effective and relatively safe as cleaners go. I've used it for years and recommended here pretty often with good results.

In the past, I've had to uninstall the burners and reinstall. If necessary, recommend you uninstall from device driver - both from the secondary IDE controllers and DVD/CD-ROM drives. Also suggest that you physically unplug the devices, shut down, power up, shut down again. Now re-plug your drives, power up and let windows reinstall. I know this seems like overkill, but it'll only take a few minutes.

I can't seem to locate the older threads re: this right now, I'll look around again.

Hope this helps.

Just finished doing all that(un-install-re-install) no difference. Three trys to open Batman Begins, but just goes on and on! Also three locks up and I have to kill it through task manager? As my main interest in three at the mo! is movies to PSP. This is no great loss. I will post a thread if I find any other movies do the same thing to 3!

as promised I am updating my experience with three! I have just tried to backup 16 blocks using 3. The same thing happened as with BB. Three just kept trying to open the disc with no success! I find it hard to believe its a burner issue as older disc's have burned with out a prob and also it seems to more than a coincidence that this is a warner bros title! Also I have just made a successful backup using 2.9.8.5.

maineman are you running 2.9.8.5 at the same time as three? I mean do you have both installed on your computer at the same time,I'm wondering if 2.9.8.5 is creating problems for three!

Yes, I am.
Initially, just dl'd and ran various fab 3 beta versions (was doing some early testing on unreleased versions). Had no conflicts. All apps were on C:\

After fooling around with Poseidon, had conflicts...yes it would open the disc, then no, had quite a variety of issues.

Then I tried to reinstall fab3 beta 2, and it tried to over-write platinum, and then all apps stated they were trial versions. Anyway, reinstalled all, but platinum and fab beta2 are now on different hdds.

I still have some squirrelly stuff happening with Poseidon, but things are better now.

@rogman, yes, now I need to have platinum and fab beta instaaled at different locations.

3.0 Beta 2 is working good. I hope it becomes final soon. All betas of any SW come with some risks, but that is the only way to get feedback from everyday users.

Tried to copy "The Goonies" tonight. Using Version 3, Beta 2 the scanning disk screen just stayed on the screen forever - the program was not accessing the drive during this time. Tried using Full Disk and Movie Only - same problem. Same with two different drives. Had to use task manager to shut down DVD Fab. Tried DVD Fab 2.9.8.3. The process completed but jumped ahead a chapter at the start of the movie when playing.

Then tried Any DVD, 6.0.5.0 and DVD FAB 3, Beta 2. Turned off CSS removal in DVD FAB and the movie quickly scanned and now appears to be copying OK. Final results will be posted soon.

Just downloaded DVD FAB 2.9.8.5 Beta 3 and will try that next.

Anyone else have a problem with this older movie?

I have also had this problem with three dskiff. Although with mine it was trying to access the drive? If I open the drive door whilst this is happening 3 continues to scan the disc? all the time the Target panel reads Scanning Media Please Wait! I've had it happen with up to date titles and small low budget titles. I don't think it's a copy protection issue as 3 will happily read and load my lattest star wars disc. For the moment its got me beat! But I am sure that if Fengtao don't address this issue before it goes on general release we will see more posts like these!

Well, I was still experiencing serious problems subsequent to fooling around with Poseidon (poseidon thread) and applying fixes (post#87).; even after uninstalling all fab apps, running a reg cleaner and doing fresh new installs from new downloads, still had problems. Interestingly, Fab 3 Beta failed to read any disc...as dskiff described (post #93)...

This occurred with older movies as well, such as "Pirates of the Caribbean". Only way to actually break the "analyzing loop" was to enable AnyDVD during process. 2.9.8.5 Beta3 was ok with analyzing without AnyDVD running, however was still glitchy. Oddly, my whole system was glitchy. Normally smooth tasks, like viewing my hdds, experienced freezing, slow downs, etc.
Finally did a system restore back to Aug 20 and all's well...back to platinum v.2.9.8.3 and fab 3 Beta 2.
Ultimately, I thought I would have to swap out my system hhd (I keep a recent external clone), but we'll see...

I've just started trying out your software, first DVDFab Platinum 2.9.8.3 and now Platinum 3 Beta 2. I'm using Windows XP Home Edition with SP2 and my DVD Writer is a Sony DRU-720A running the latest firmware JY08.

The frist movie that I've tried to make a backup copy of is "Firewire", a WB film. With 2.9.8.3, I can copy the movie but the preview trailers (I.E. the one for SuperMan) does not display. I can get to the menu via the DVD Player controls.

When I try using DVDFab 3 Beta 2, I never get past the scaning source. I.E. right after I insert the DVD it goes off and never returns.

Any clues on what's up with this movie or the software?

Thanks,

- Chris

Wow, does this really work now? So DVD Fab would be able to burn DVD+R DL discs that play just as well as the original DVD-9 discs on any DVD player? This is great news, if true.

I haven't been to this forum for a few months. The inability to burn DVD+R DL discs that could be played properly on my DVD player was the one big disappointment that I had with this otherwise great software.

Can more beta users who have burned DVD+R DL discs comment? I am trying to sort out some things with my PC right now, and am hesitant to install a beta software at the moment.

I still have around 20 blank DVD+R DL discs that have been just sitting on my desk the last few months. It would be great if I could use these discs afterall.

Thanks to anyone who can comment on whether this problem has really been fixed.
