DVDFab Plat 4.0.3.0 and Splitting?
| DVDFab / DVD Region+CSS Free Discuss, DVDFab Plat 4.0.3.0 and Splitting? at Movie copy software forum; Hi all, can somebody confirm that the new DVDFab Plat release version 4.0.3.0 does actually split a whole movie properly? I was having issues with the split copies as the main movie never played, kept looping back to the main menu. Thanks. |

| Hi - I am having the same problem - starting with ver 4.0.1.4 beta - using spit mode - burned discs won't play - loop back to the main menu when I hit "Play Movie" from the main menu. Also, all the beginning stuff (logos, previews, etc.) is skipped over - goes straight to the main menu when disc is inserted. (Split mode has worked fine for me before this.) A couple of other folks reported the same problem. Works fine in my PC, but won't work in a stand alone DVD player. I will test a split with the new version & let you know tomorrow. (I will have to bring the discs to a friends house tomorrow to test, as I don't have a stand alone player hooked up right now - have been using my laptop to play movies so I didn't even know this was a problem until I tried to play several DVD's at a friends house [tried in 3 different players] - I have now discovered that I have a large number of useless discs .) Anyone else having this problem, & is it now fixed? Thanks! |

| One more thing - as others posted, you can work around this for now using Customize & Advance Title Setting to make 2 discs (instead of using Split Mode). But you won't have the INSERT DISC LOGO appear on your burned disc (if you want that), & you won't have the JUMP TO SPLIT TITLE WHEN DISC INSERTED option. Also, if you have your original Split folders (that didn't work) on your hard drive, you can copy them to another folder using Customize & checking all the titles you want (don't use Full Disc, or you will just get a duplicate copy with the same problem), & then the burned discs from the new Customize folders should play OK - they did for me. (I would assume you could also burn directly to disc from your original Split folders, using Customize - I wanted a good working folder on my HD, so I didn't try burning directly to disc.) You might want to experiment with RW's first, so as not to waste discs! |

| I tried using Split Mode in ver 4.0.2.5 Beta. (I haven't tried 4.0.3.2 yet, as I wanted to make sure it was working OK for folks - I'll try it tonight.) Same problem - I tried to play the DVD's on several stand alone players, & the movie wouldn't play - just kept looping back to the main menu. Weren't there some other folks having this problem in addition to the two of us? Is the Split Mode working fine for everyone else, then? I'm really hoping to get this solved as I use the Split Mode for just about all of my backups. I've been using DVD Fab Plat since October, with no previous problems with Split Mode. I haven't changed any hardware or anything else except for one thing that I can think of - when PathPlayer was added, I left the default setting (Enable When Necessary). Could this possibly have anything to do with my problems? I'll try another disc with it set to "Always Enable." ajaha - do you have PathPlayer set to "Always Enable"? Have you tried to split a DVD with the new version yet? (I also noticed that I don't have the options "Jump To First Menu When Disc Inserted" & "Remove Annoying PGC's" in Customize Mode, as is shown in the tutorial - there is nothing there - it's just blank in that area. Anyone have any ideas on what's going on there?) Thanks for any help!

| "well couldnt you just choose "scene selection" and choose the first scene? usually the first scene is the start of the movie anyway." Doesn't work - there is no way to play anything - it just stays at the main menu regardless of what you click on.

The DVD's that I have tried to split & wouldn't work (since ver 4.0.1.4 beta) are SNOW CAKE, HARRY POTTER & THE GOBLET OF FIRE, & HARRY POTTER & THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX. USA, REGION 1 Thanks so much for any help!

I know others were having this same problem with recent versions - there are a couple of other threads on the forum about this, but it all kind of got glossed over. I'm wondering if a lot of folks here don't use the split feature often, & that's why maybe they haven't discovered the problem yet? Or is it just that a few of us are having trouble? Can anyone else confirm that split is working fine for them (tested on standalone players)? Thanks!

i use the split when i have a fairly long movie and want a good picture but i dont feel the storyline is good enough to merit using a d/l. |

| Hi all, and fengtao, My problems splitting started with version 4, version 3 worked fine as i have been splitting for god knows how long. Once i upgraded to version 4, none of the split DVD worked in my stand alone DVD players. I have tried many Stand alone dvd players. The movies i am trying to split are: Disturbia, Happy Feet, The Contract, Bourne Ultimatum, and on and on... Once the dvd is put in and the menu is reached, i select "Play Movie", just loops back to the main menu. The movie never plays. This is on disc 1 and disc 2. I have not yet tried splitting with version 4.0.3.2 so i do not know if this release splits OK or NOT. Hope this helps. |

| i have my fab set on enable pathplayer when necessary so i have no clue if enabled on the movies i split or not. sorry. i have disturbia and ultimatum. i will do a split and burn test on them to see if they work with the latest fab plat. |
- #19
| ok disturbia ripped fine but ultimatum keeps showing a "process failed" when it gets towards the end of ripping. difference between the 2 movie rips is that pathplayer was not enabled on disturbia was on ultimatum. im re-ripping to see if enabling pathplayer on ultimatum will make a diff. |
- #20
| update/correction. pathplayer was disabled on disturbia and enabled on BU on first trys. enabled caused failed attempt @ split with Bourne Ultimatum however was successful when reripped with pathplayer turned off. will return asap with results from burns. |

| ok burned disturbia onto a maxell dvd+ rw disk using a sony dvd rw dru 820A. burned using the dvdfab plat write option @ 4x speed. tested in standalone dvd player. worked just fine. did not put menus on disk 2 of disturbia but did on B/U so im having to run the B/U ts through shrink real quick. will burn on diff drive when done and post report . |

| ok finished the shrink and burn. heres the settings and results. ripped bourne ultimatum with pathplayer off in split mode. used dvdshrink to compress (full disk backup) video ts file into iso. burned using alcohol 120% @ 4X onto maxell dvd+ rw disk. burner used was a LiteOn DVDRW LH-20A1P. average speed of disk burn was 4.4X. tested in 2 standalone dvdplayers plus pc. menus tested were "play movie" and "scene selection". both menu options functioned properly with no hesitation. |

| I have been watching with interest the discussion around splitting problems - ever since my postings to ajaha's entry "Problem Splitting DVD..." about 4 weeks ago. I tried splitting Dreamgirls yesterday, running DVD Plat 4.0.3.2, and simply added to my spindle of coasters. The second disk would play but with the first disk, the movie fails to start although all the other stuff (warnings, etc.) play fine. When doing the split I did not "Preserve menus on disk 2". I also tried Janine's Customs split technique but that didn't work either. My work around - which has produced consistent positive results - is to rip the main movie to a hd folder (I set the dvd size to dvd9 to ensure 100% quality) using DVDFab and then using Nero's Recode, split and burn the splits. Sucks to have to go through these intermediary steps, but it works. As posted in the aforementioned topic, my problem started some time in September and despite continued upgrading to the latest version of DVDFab, hasn't gone away. Splitting worked consistently and error free up until that time and since then I haven't been able to get a working split directly from DVDFab. |

| Ok, some late breaking news!!! I was going through my dvds that 'stopped' working to make sure I knew exactly which ones I needed to re-rip and discovered that my problem may be more related to which DVD player I played them on than the actual dvds being played. When I first discovered the problem near the end of November, I had my PS3 hooked up to my Sony HD tv and my Panasonic DMR-EH50 DVD Recorder hooked up to my SD tv in the basement. It was on both these 'players' that I first encountered my split problem. I also have a Sony DVP-NS75H upconverting dvd player which was NOT connected to my Sony HD tv at that time, as I was waiting for the arrival of my XtremeMac XtremeHD 4-port HDMI switch (I only have 2 HDMI jacks on the back of my tv which were being consumed by the PS3 and my HD Satellite PRV). Having received the switch, I now have my Sony DVP connected to my tv. That switch works great by the way, just in case anyone was wondering. When I was going through my problem dvds this morning, I played them on the Sony DVP and low and behold they worked! I retested some of them on my PS3 and the Panasonic and as was the case in November they failed to play. I need to do a bit more experimenting, but thought I would report my initial findings. |
