Well if computer shut down then could be overheating since you said you using laptop as internal dvd drives create lot of heat especially when backing up your movies.

Then again could be a problem witht he version of DVDFab you using. Try using the latest Beta release as the version you using was released August 8, 2011 and latest Beta was released Yesterday http://club.myce.com/f116/dvdfab-8-1...2011-a-323570/ if I remember correctly peopl having problems with the version you using

This is not a software problem, its a hardware issue. IMHO, if this was an issue we would be flooded with complaints, and without being in front of your setup I cant diagnose the problem.

    Hi Christina

    Welcome to the forum

As Alan pointed out this sounds more like a hardware issue rather then a software issue, my good friend AGJ may be correct about the laptop over heating.

I will take it you are using the internal drive/burner while doing the copy process if so I suggest you try using a external drive/burner because the built-in drive run very hot especially while doing the copy process due to poor air flow within the laptop itself.

Also while running DVDFab you don't need Passkey running at the same time, if you do have it running in the background while running DVDFab please disable/close passkey first before starting DVDFab.

Hi, thanks for peoples replies, heck not good if the computer or dvd burner is overheating i mean this computer is only like 2 weeks old and i have it on a top quality cooler as well.
I'm adding what the message says when it crashes. I updated to DVDFAB8116 but still had the same problem, then i tried to use version 6 and version 7 an version 8105 all had problems.
Querry about using an external harddrive, that is fine to burn the dvd too - but the problem is i have to use my internal dvd player to read the dvd and it's in the reading of the dvd that it crashes.
OK so I updated my DVDFAB to 8116Qt but it still crashed my computer - this is what the crash screen comes up with:
A problem has been detected and windows ha been shut down to prevent damage to your computer
    DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
If this is the first time you’ve seen this stop error screen, restart your computer, if this screen appears again, follow these steps
Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation as your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need.
If problem continues, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing, if you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select advanced startup options, and then select safe mode.

If you don't have any there are softwares that will access the sensors in your computer & tell you various temperatures .Depending on the sensors.
Your external drive should be able to read as well. Unless you don't have the hard drive space available to rip to.

I was talking about a external drive/burner not a external hard drive.

Speed Fan is a good software for checking temperatures . It will also allow some setting of the fans if your computer supports this.
If you do get an external DVD drive & this is always a good idea with a lap top .
Laptop drives in general are known to have problems & the less they are used the better.
Go to the trouble to get an external enclosure for a DVD drive & install the DVD drive you want in it.
This will give you a much better selection of drives than one a company has already put togather.
To add a little to this when using an external DVD drive it will always be better to read into your internal hard drive . The reason for this is going from the USB of the external DVD drive to the USB of an external hard drive can cause problems.

    Yo Chrissy

    I just had a flashback

Some systems don't like the Pcoffin driver(VSO) the default burn engine, since your issue happens just after the drive tray opens for a blank discwhich is when the Pcoffin driver loads this could be the bad driver/software crashes your system, please look below in my signature there is a guide for using ImgBurn with DVDFab please set DVDFab to use ImgBurn as the default burn engine.

    ImgBurn is free http://download.imgburn.com/SetupImgBurn_2.5.5.0.exe

I would give SJ's suggestion for using ImgBurn a try.
Probably not overheating but a software that lets you know your computers temps is always a good idea.

Did you download and installed ImgBurn ?

Also did you read the guide ? make sure you set the proper burn spend within ImgBurn as shown in the guide. (Which BTW I didn't see you reading it)

Select your drive as the target.

BTW Chrissy since the read process completed and it crashed when the tray opened for a blank disc the files for the movie should be in the temp folder, thus you shouldn't have to even run DVDFab.

Just open ImgBurn and use it to burn to a disc

Something wrong with DVDFab as the driver for the VSO burn engine does not get installed anymore unless the user selects to install it as the VSO burn engine no longer needs that driver to work.

Then I always use ImgBurn with DVDFab much more control

chrissy glad it working for you now that figured out what the problem was

    Tim

You have done your good deed for the day. It burnt

I must say that the sound is really low - i turned all my speakers up high but didn't change much. So is that something I need to look at in imgburn (maybe change a settle for sound?)

I'll let you think about that one lol

Cause it's now 3am here and this female needs her beauty sleep - but because of your help and will now be able to sleep lol
