Please Help: DVDFAB 5250 AND 6.0 FREEZING HELP

IM HAVING A BIG PROBLEM SINCE INSTALLING 5250 AN NOW 6.0 BETA. I HAVE TO RESTART MY PC TO GET ANYTHING TO WORK SINCE I INSTALLED 5250 IT ALSO HAPPENS WITH THE NEW BETA 6.0. I DO NOT THINK IT IS MY OTHER HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE BECAUSE I THEN USED 5232 AN EVERYTHING WORKED FINE!!!!IVE TRIED EVERYTHING RESETTING DMA, UNINSTALLING DRIVERS AN REINSTALLING, REMOVING DEVICES AND REINSTALLING THEM, MAKING SURE I HAVE UPDATED FIRMWARE. DISABLING MY OTHER INTERNAL HARD DRIVES TO MAKE SURE THEY DON CONFLICT. TURNING OFF EXTURNAL USB HARD DRIVES AN EVEN UNINSTALLING ALL OTHER VERSION OF DVDFAB!! IM PRETTY COMPUTER LITERATE SO I HAVE A SMALL IDEA WHAT IM DOING, EVEN REPLACE THE WHOLE CD DRIVE THINKING THAT WAS TEH PROBLEM. BUT THIS PROBLEMS SEEMS TO HAVE ME STUMPED. I DID NOTICE THAT IF I TRY TO COPY A MOVIE TO MY C: HARD DRIVE IT WILL DO OK BUT TO ANY OTHER DRIVES AN RIGHT BACK TO FREEZING AN I DONT WANT TO KEEP USING MY MAIN HARD DRIVE AS STORGE AN THAT IS WHY I HAVE ALL OF THE EXTURNAL ONES THAT I DO. PLEASE POST ANY SOLUTIONS TO OR ANYTHING THAT MIGHT HAVE WORKED FOR U AND THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP.

If you think DVDFab is the cause of your system locking up on you then use the guide below in my signature for doing a "Clean uninstall of DVDFab" there is a guide for both XP and Vista just use the guide that pertains to your operating system.
If after you uninstall DVDFab and you are still having the lockup issue then that would suggest there is another problem else where on your system, please report back with the results and maybe we can pin point the problem area

hi all got computer back from repair job ..all is well using 5232.......have donloaded 5250 and 63003b...the latter is separate from 5232...and on 6303b thereis no preview avaiable in MAIN MOVIE..IS THEREanother update for 5250 which has same problem ? is this the end of 5series ? are we forced t o start 6 series?

well i dont know what the heck is going on?? i restored my computer to factory fresh status so that i have nothing except xp installed. then the ONLY program i loaded was dvdfab 5250 an i still get freezing problem! at this point i dont know what else to do i figured i was probably having a conflict problem with some program or something. ive been using fab for at least 2 years now with NO problems at all an i love this software an no problems with 5230. anybody go any ideas???

Do you have direct show checked ? as it was the internal decoder that was causing this problem so if that was checked that was probley your problem and yes 5.2.5.0 is the final release of ver 5 and it will not be updated anymore so it looks we will have to start with ver 6 now also you will have to get a new key for 6

are you saying you reformatted your hard drive with recovery disc ? if so have you re-installed all Microsoft updates ?

Jimbo ... direct show is the problem..all fixed now ..will have to try ver 6 now...BTW j noticed a new ver 5321 ? what is this about ?? thanx for your interest and tip !

Clean Uninstall of DVDFab Platinum or Gold on Vista

1.) Uninstall DVDFab Platinum or Gold like you normally do.
2.) Click on Start open the your folder located on the top right side of the start menu.
3.) Open "Document" and delete both the "DVDFAB" folder and the "PCSETUP" folder now close the Document folder.
4.) On the on the menu bar click on "Organize" and scroll down and select "Folder and Search Options"and click on the "View" tab now scroll down and put a tick in the small circle next to "Show hidden files and folders" and click "Apply" then "OK".
5.) Now open the once hidden folder called "AppData" then open the "Roaming" folder and delete the "PCOUFFIN"...(Note)...there are 4 entries so delete all 4 and delete the "VSO" folder now exit the Roaming folder then the AppData folder.
6.) On the on the menu bar click on "Organize" and scroll down and select "Folder and Search Options"and click on the "View" tab now scroll down and put a tick in the small circle next to "Hide files and folders" and click "Apply" then "OK".
7.) Exit your folder and open the C: drive and click on Windows folder and click on "Prefetch"...(Note)...You will get a message stating "You do not currently have permission to access this folder" click the continue button and you will get another pop up message from "User Account Control" click the continue button now scroll down and delete the entry foe DVDFab will look something like "DVDFABPLATINUM.EXE-########.pf ( # ) are letters and numbers 8 in all.
8.) Now exit all windows and you are done.

Yes that would b correct i refrommated my hard drive installed all updates to windows an SP 3. i then installed ONLY dvdfab 6.0.0.3 an still the same problems. i have 4 external usb hard drives that i save all of movies to. i was thinkng maybe one of these might b bad as two are newi unplugd them all an still same thing. then did a clean uninstll an went back to 52.50 thinking it was the new fab6 beta but the old one did not work either!! tried diableing pathplayer...no luck....tried to change internal decoder to directshow an still no go... after using this program for so long with no problems at all im now at a loss of words as to what could b wrong????

Since you re-formatted the system and DVDFab is the only program you have installed that should mean there shouldn't be any other program interfering with Fab to cause it to freeze on you, don't know how you are when it comes to computer maintenance but if you have never opened the side panel to blow out the dust build-up then you may want to do it.
Dust build-up inside can settle on all the circuit boards and get into the connection of the IDE cables not counting the CPU you should get a can of compressed air which can be found at stores such as Best Buy and other retail sores of that nature, after you blow out all the dust(repeat AFTER) disconnect the IDE cables and blow air on the connection.

Not saying this is the trouble BUT to start troubleshooting it is the first step I would take.

yes im pretty good with comp maintence. i say the hell with can of compressed air at 6.99 a can i bought a small 1 gallon air compressor ($69) thats does a really good job. so i dont have to keep throwing money away as i upkeep 4 comp towers along with 4 laptops (i know dont ask) but main one i use is this one. after my reformat an update then ONLY installing dvdfab i still have the same problems. i believe i have to start looking at hardware issues i do have a new dvd burner installed with new ide cables.like i said i used this program for years without a single issues an now i cant get any of the older or current versions to work. i keep reading all over this form about uninstalling an reinstalling an changing settings of all kinds which i have tried all of to no avail. an so far no one really seems to ever really sugest hardware issues and/or fixes. so as of right now ill keep playing an report back if anything seems to work? an of course if anyone has any suggestions im listening??? and thank you in advance.

I have the same problem the program freeze all the time but with a clean un-install the program works!! i can now burn new dvd's like paul blart:mall cop.thanks a lot!
