I have the same problem with DVDFab (and VideoFab) converting to WMV on Windows7 (I have tested both x86 and x64 W7platforms). I believe it is due to the fact that Windows 7 has completely new MediaCenter and MediaPlayer components, and the DVDFab products must try to access the codecs in a way that is not supported in W7. Other media converting programs I have tested (AVS Video Converter 6, and WinAVI to name two) work fine converting to WMV on W7.

I haven't had a chance to look into this with further with GraphStudio yet, but am fairly certain that this is most likely the underlying issue. Hopefully the DVDFab folks will address this soon. I would assume that this would be a fairly simple fix.
Your opinion. Any well written application that uses proper architecture, works fine. I have developed for over a decade and I use this OS myself on one of the production machines and it works just fine. Nothing yet has not run on it and I use ALOT of applications. So if something is poorly written or written to work but not properly designed, then yeah it might not work but that's hardly an OS issue.

I am not a big fan of M$ and I can't stand the whole concept of patchworks they build based on, but the fact is that W7 works fine and it runs without a hitch and other than some small cosmetic issues here and there, its very stable. Now as far as AVS products, they are a collection of lame software built by people still using VB6 framework and they are not suitable to be compared as anything more than crapware, so let's not use them as a benchmark for what works and not. They rely on packaged libraries to work and as far as DVDFab, it works fine on W7, I use it all the time. No problems. Not ONCE.

Anyway, people can feel anyway they want and if they want to blame the OS, then that's the easy way to go but let's not automatically use that and actually KNOW if the program was written right first before just having a knee jerk blaming response. I would love nothing more than to blame M$ for everything but frankly its not always them, as hard it is to admit.

If MS's own Software doesn't all work on their own OS yet, then maybe we need to give the other SW vendors the benefit of our patience, and a little more time to work on it...
I think you might have some issue on your machine because I use that very tool on my machine and it runs without a single hitch. In fact I have not seen any M$, Adobe or third-party security or utilities that have not run yet. Seriously I think there is something wrong with your installation or something you are doing wrong.

You need to stop raggin on my signature, its from a song and if you don't get it, that's fine but you need to stop using that to belittle a valid point. The bandwagon is that someone makes a comment that is invalid about something and everyone jumps in with I agree this and that without providing anything useful. I am not in a bad mood and I will not apologize for offering a professional opinion about something that might affect people. If everyone here can only speak about roses and sunshine and anything outside that seemingly childish banter is considered wrong, then ok I am in a bad mood and I make lemons for myself. It would be nice if everyone could act like adults.

If you don't want to talk to me that's your business and it seems childish but your choice but don't try to lay this on me as having done something wrong. Thanks for your help so far, I guess censorship comes in many ways these days.

There is no censorship on this forum. The fact remains that Windows 7 is a beta OS and when it is released to the public I am sure Fab will support it, that is if it doesnt already. I do nto have Windows 7 on my rig so I cant comment on whether it works or not. There is nothing in FAB website that says it supports Windows 7, if thats not good enough then I guess we will have to see what the author does in the future, if I were him I would wait until its released then post a beta and work from there. Microsoft may make changes in Windows 7 while it in beta, so it would be useless to release something that that might have to be reworked in the future. Just my opinion.

That's the reason why I felt that since not everyone has it, those who do can give their input. I was providing perspective on the fact that I do have it running on a production machine that works fine and that DVDFab is fully and without a fault functional on it. This was the whole issue that was taken and warped out of context. I was neither defending or promoting Win7, simply telling the user who was having difficulty that its a fault with something else on their machine and not the OS that is causing their malfunction. Thank you.

And you could very well be right. Everyones feedback here is appreciated and will be respected. This way we all get along and everyone gets to voice an opinion. I happen to agree with you Guardian666, but that does not mean that others might not. Thankyou for your postings.

You are welcome and I have always found help here, so it seemed only fair to give something back when I could.
