DVDFab / DVD Region+CSS Free Discuss, DVDFab 5.2.2.6 Beta is out at Movie copy software forum; downloaded the beta version and it wont detect writable media. The older version never had that problem... Is this a bug and is there a fix

Quick question. I have been using dvdfab for some time now and I have just been installing the newer version over the previous one. Should I be uninstalling first then reinstall and copy/paste my reg key back in?

A problem I am having with all recent builds: If I am copying a whole DVD all goes well until it asks to install writable media. DVD Fab will not recognize the disk (I have tried all major brands of writable material); however, if I insert the disk with the "My Computer" or "Explorer" screen focused the disk is recognized. After I get the disk recognized, then DVD Fab will recognize it.

Now in order to copy a disk I must do it in two steps: First record the DVD. Close the application without copying since the program will not read the blank disk.
Second, get the disk recognized by pulling up "My Computer" and seeing the disk. Then starting DVD Fab again with the step 1 recording as Source and the blank disk as Target.

To summarize: DVD Fab does not recognize blank writable disks but other programs (screens) do.

Best Regards,
Fengtao
This is the first version that has converted/encoded at a steady 140+ fps since version 4.x.x.x now please leave it alone

This is when i use PVP ZenW Vision 480x272 1pass. Source is DVD (same DVD video i've used for testing since 4.x.x.x) in my DVD-RW (Lite-On DH-20A4P).

Thank you Fengtao and Ting!

Could do Dark Knight for several versions now.
Check the box to look for updates and it will tell you when there is one available.

If it is working no absolute need to re-install.

A lot of us do to make sure there is no other conflicts or problems associated with the older versions

Awesome work, Fengtao!

I purchased the 2-Disc Special Edition of Bangkok Dangerous. It is the one that includes a Digital Copy.

Previously, with version 5.2.2.2 I was able to configure the settings under "DVD" > "Read" > "Reading Error Control" to "Ask retry/ignore/abort when reading error" so it would give me the option to abort. After aborting twice, it would come up with the title list, but have 3 movies listed. Worked, but was still a little iffy.

New DVDFab 5.2.2.6 reads the disk like any other DVD that is easily ripped, and cuts out the other 2 titles in the list, only leaving the 1:39:11 movie listed. Went through with no issues at all!

Really, such a relief! Fengtao, you are my hero! Keep up the good work!

For all the ppl who have the " DVD Fab will not recognize the writable disc " problem. Has any one tried to update the firmware on their drives? did that help?

5.2.2.6 beta fixed the problems, I was having with Bangkok Dangerous. It's the dual sided US version. I just did an install over v5.2.2.2 I was able to back it up to my hard drive using the "Full Disc" method. I haven't tried to burn it to DVD yet. I usually select just "Main Movie" when I eventually burn to DVD-5.

One thing that I noticed is that when backing up DVD's to my hard drive with this new version is that my transfer speeds seem to have been cut in half. With v5.2.2.2 I was getting on average a 10.0MB/s transfer speed ripping Full Disc to my HD. Now it's averaging around 5.0MB/s with other DVD's besides Bangkok Dangerous.

Not a big problem. I just thought I would mention it, just incase anyone else has noticed a slow down also.

Thanks for this release. This one really does give me a performance increase. I finished a 23 min video for mobile in 11 mins with 2-pass. This normally took about 35 mins.

Now if that combing prob gets fixed with 29 fps DVD conversion, this will be a great final release.

Bean55, sorry to bother about this, out of curiosity; there is any specific reason why you don't use DVDFab as a burning engine?

It is just personal preference or there is any particular advantage, like speed, easier interface, etc?

tks

I have had problems with the burning engine as well the verifying of data has completely failed on it.It doesn't work with dvd-rw or + rw disks anymore. And on my computer when i burn stuff with the vso burning engine dvd+rw work on my pioneer dvd recorder but when i burn a dvd-rw disk and try to play it it just says DVD-rw where it should say dvd-video.Anyone know how i could fix this issue don't know why my dvd-rw disks don't work my dvd recorder is fully compatible with these products.
