I agree Troy, I have been finding alot of bad source discs out there. It only has to have one small flaw to get hung up.

not that I've seen.

Apparently, not for most users.
The devil's in the details...some specifics would be helpful.

Just an FYI...

There are now 3 users (? more) posting various problems in this thread.
I'm not complaining and apologies if this comes off that way...
but problems tend to get buried and are difficult to follow in a thread announcing a new version.

If you have a problem, you will be be better off starting your own thread.
You'll receive more individual help and probably quicker help as well.
Thanks...

Thanks.

I've had this problem with every DVD i've tried. This includes original (store-bought, Region 1) discs and copies. I've tried different computers (all running Windows XP w/ Service Pack 2) but the results are the same. I got tired of trying to do an entire movie so I've switched to trying just a single chapter each time.
It would be great to know if anyone can get the subtitles when trying a 2-pass enconding for a .wmv (Zune) file. Then I would know if my problem is specific to my set-up or if it is program-wide.

Nope, it's not confined to your set-up.
I don't have a zune, but I just tried a couple of chapters from American History X. I just used the default settings.
Results were the same as yours.
1 pass...no problem, subtitles were properly displayed.
2 pass...no subtitles...

Looks like you can boot this one back to Ting...

Well this has been a concern of many already. I agree with you and I think a good idea (it was actually done a short time ago for a minute but then stopped before it had a chance to develop) is to announce each new version is a single closed thread. Then let people post their thank you's and issues in separate threads. The threads would be much easier to follow that way instead of having to wade through 90% thank you's to get to the 10% of posts where there are issues to address or issues to post. This happens with every single release. I'm as thankful as the next guy but it does get old having to scroll through this over and over again to get to the good stuff. Smaller more focused threads are much easier to navigate and get involved in rather than a "one size fits all" thread where there's everything but the kitchen sink. Just my comments and not meant to ruffle any feathers.

very good point and i remember that as well.

one problem, when members such as you and i feel that we need to make comments, we will post in a thread thats a sticky or a non-sticky.

really it doesnt make a difference. off topic discussions will happen.

now if the title stated that the thread is only for announcements and concerns (not for troubleshooting) then i and many other members would not post. [unless of course to report an error and not to expect any feedback] now this is not a 'stop all' off topic discussions, but would eliminate a higher percentage.

I totally agree! All those one-liners "thank you" and "you rock" are clogging up the thread and become a bit tiresome. Perhaps a separate thread for those folks would be a perfect solution!

I agree with the current discussion topic that this thread (about the release of the newest Beta version of DVDFab) is getting clogged with comments about other issues - including one of my own. Therefore, I appreciate those of you who have addressed my problem with subtitles and invite further discussion about this in a thread I began to focus on this problem.

seem to be many postings about various problems with latest version 0- more than I recall being posted with v4x. Mayve v5x is a dud - tried too hard to accomodate everyones requests. Perhaps a return to v4x would be in order. It solved the problems I had (and reportedly no one else) with poor video quality (jerky) with mobile to psp. Oh, and guess what - v4 didnt require us to pay extra for the mobile option. I am sooooo glad i apdi extra for that mobile piece of poor prgramming.

I know the last couple of my posts were long. Not sure what part of the error log was of any use, if any. I guess my problem is unique and the solution is not. Had hoped that others were experiencing the same problem or had seen it.
