That's exactly what happens. After inserting DVD, program begins to read disc and after partial reading program closes abruptly.

Hi halspa
The address where the error occurred is after the layer break, near the outer edge of the disc and I suspect is related to the media or the drive. I would suggest that you use the link in my sig for VSO burning engine support and see what they have to say. They have a utility that will collect the burn logs and drive/system info automatically and send it to their tech support staff.

Can someone tell mey why as a licensed user o DVD Paltinum, with the current non-beta version, I can't see any of the DVD Encryptor HD options? It won't recognize my LG Blue Ray RW drive. when I put in a BR Disc, it does nothing?? Why oh Why? I have written several times to the help contact and all I get back is "we are going to support BD soon". You already support BD. All I want to do is rip a BD to my harddrive. There are help files on CDFREAKS showing the current version of DVD Encryptor doing what i want it to do. I download the current version and still nothing?????

sorry dvdfab will not decrypt blu-ray disc. dvdfab platinum does not claim to decrypt blu-ray disc.

dvdfab hd decrypter does in fact work with some disc. [do not ask me which ones] although the support for high definition is not updated.

i agree that the dvdfab hd decrpyter page does need updated to exclude the statement

It also comes with full HD-DVD and Blu-Ray support (Removes AACS)

I'm new and I'm sure it's user error, but I've had nothing but trouble ripping my DVDs to play on an ipod touch & ipod classic. They will play in itunes but when I sync a message tells me that the format is not supported. Funny thing is I've been able to successfully rip and play about half of the DVDs on the ipod and ipod touch. I've read that this is the best out there, but a 50% failure rate...maybe this new version will work.

If I read your log right you've got a layer break that is set too early (at 3.84 GB) which is leaving too much for the second layer (4.62 GB) and your running out of room. I don't know if its something you have set or a glitch in the software. That would be for the programers to figure out.
You might try ripping the files to your computer then using IMGBurn to set the correct layer break.

As a licensed user of DVD Fab (w/ mobile option), I've had problems converting any movie from DVD to wmv (Zune). I want the subtitles but they don't show up when I do high-quality (2-pass) encoding. They only appear if I do the quicker 1-pass encoding. Has anyone else experienced or can confirm this problem? I've used the 5.0.7.x versions as well as the Beta 5.0.8.1 version with the same results.

On July 31, their customer service indicated that the issue would be forwarded to their tech team and I should wait for the new version; however, the newer 5.0.8.x versions do not seem to address the problem.

I very much appreciate the work they do to perfect the program. (I just hope that they can take care of this issue I'm struggling with as well.)

Hi raspwest,

These burned discs may, in fact, be salvageable.
First off, I'd try to force finalization.
Since you burned with Fab, try this:

DVDFab Finalize a disc
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Right click on the Fab Icon >
Left click Properties >
Left click Find Target >
Left click PcSetup.exe >
Left click on the + in front of Patin-Couffin driver >
Now left click once to select your burner >
Right click on the selected burner >
Navigate to the bottom of the dropdown to Finalize the
media

It looks like a lot of steps, but it takes almost no time.
The DL media you're using is not the best. Drop your burn speed to 4X with this stuff...or better yet, pick up some Verbatim DL +R and be certain this is MIS (made in singapore) and not MII (made in India). You'll have to look on the spindle label for this info.

Verbatim MKM 001 should be fine at 4X with this drive and MKM 003 (up to 10X rating) should be ok at 8X (4X "should" be ok too)

Your firmware is ok.

Another thought...this also could be related to the VSO burn engine.
Recommend that you try with Img burn engine. This is an option within Fab, but you would need to have Img installed on your rig as it is not an installed component of Fab.

Hope this helps.

I read your burn log post also. The problem could be either of the things you suggested or any number of others. If the disc will play (or even be recognized) in a standalone player it probably actually finalized OK. You can install ISOBuster if you want to see for sure. This problem comes up with VSO burning engine from time to time. I suggest that you try some different media (i.e. Verbatim). If that doesn't work either, use the link in my sig to submit a report to VSO tech support and install the free and excellent ImgBurn in the meantime for burning DLs. You can use it from within DVDFab by choosing it as the burning engine in Common Settings->Write, at the top of the page.

//EDIT// And what Maineman said.

That Ritek media, sold as Memorex, is junk. The following is log from ImgBurn. I was able to contact VSO. Was told that their saying is "crap is crap" specifically the "Memorex" media. I've tried using DVDFab 5.0.8.2, ImgBurn 2.4.2.0, and Nero 6.6.1.4. Always the same failure.
It's possible that this Ritek media is not compatible w/my Sony DRU-801A 1.0f burner. I have over 330 duplicated titles and this is a first. I bought this junk at Circuit City, 25 dual layer DVD for $30. So far I've made 12 coasters, 100% failure and always fails at the 50% point. I've tried making the ISO with different break points, but as soon as the second layer burn is started, the software errors out and fails to complete the burn.
I'm going back to Sony media.

Is your problem happened in specail DVD or for all DVD, I will do a test tomorrow, if you have any other detail information about this problem, please tell me.

Thanks.

DVDFAB GOLD still freezes up at around 47% of the first copy process. Time lapse clock stops and does not recover. This started happening with the latest versions. Version 5.0.5.0 is the last one that still works. Anyone else having a problem with the copy? This problem makes DVDFAB useless because the new versions always kept up with the latest DVDs.
