As it only takes 45m to back-up my dvd, i assume this is what you call 'on the fly recording'? as i heard that term a while back.

As it normally took about 2-3hrs with DVD Fab HD + Nero Recode2

But whether this is the place to ask, as you can tell me where, as i think i read that this version can burn divx/xvid files as well?

I dont know if it was in the guides or somewhere on the DvdIdle site?
" On the fly reording is when you read and burn from one drive to another without using a hdd temp folder.

usually you get DVD Shrink which usually takes about 3hrs as its slow, old but last hope,
Dude, I don't know what kind of computer you're running or how you are doing what you do, but whatever it is, that time is way out of whack.

I can do start to finish using Fab/Shrink/Imgburn in under 30 minutes.

Have to agree with you Mike that time is waaaaaay out of whack when I used to just use DVDShrink alone
it would only take me 1-2 minutes or less to analyze the disc and 9 to 10 minutes or less to rip it and another
8 minutes or less to burn it. SnakeDog must be using a 33MHz CPU and 16MB or 32MB of RAM or something like
that for DVDShrink to take 3 or so hours to complete.

Well first of all, if you'll bear with me tryin to explain the best i can & correct me if im wrong, as you can only learn from your mistakes.

MY SPECS:

Windows XP version 5.1 SP2
HP Pavilion 2.0 Ghz 512MB RAM
Intel Pentium 4 2000 MHz
TOSHIBA CD/DVDW SDR5372V
DVD±R/RW DL Recorder 16x

Nero 6.6.0.18 Bundled (where i've only used some app's)

I'm not too familiar with that combo above as i first used DVD Decrypter+Shrink & didnt know any better? isnt Imgburn inside Decrypter?

I was told that was the normal time for Shrink+Decrypter for that size of file (7GB) on a site i used to be on, so i wasnt gonna complain until i noticed the burn speed with Nero Recode2 as it used to take 28m for 8x disc, it wasnt for a while til someone noticed that it was in PIO MODE & was takin for so long, as it could have been that way for a while

So you can tell by the specs that it shouldnt have done that! & with my limited knowledge i was only going what advice was given.
As i've quoted earlier 45m for DVDFAB4.1.0.2 as i upgraded & got the trial version for 30 days.

Before that it used to take:
15-20m - DVD FAB
45-90m - Nero Recode 2 (depending on file size)
as that was the normal procedure before upgrading & glad i did, but someone with better knowledge of this, would be able to advise on what went wrong.

Thanks.

Thanks Stormjumper for noticing & for the advice,

But i forgot to say i got it fixed when i was told it was in PIO MODE to reset it to DMA as anyone new to it wouldnt know where the device mangager is to reset it, but the shortcut in DVD FAB as you described would help a lot to anyone.

Thanks again.

yes, you can convert to xvid, under dvd to mobile, generic profile.

it takes me over an hour using dvdshrinks deep analysis.

using dvdfab platinum usually around 15 - 20 min total.

HI all-

New to the forum but have been using DVDFab for a while. So I downloaded the new HD version and wanted to run it on an iso I had brought over from my PS3.

The program fails to load the iso directly it also fails to load the virtual drive I create using daemon tools lite. I thought this might be b/c I couldn't parse the disk (no UDF2.5 driver), but I got a driver installed and I can parse the disk and the program still does not recognize the file in either of the forms I mentioned above.

Any ideas?

Great product!!! However, still having problems with Disney DVD's such as "The GamePlan"it will not break the encryption code and somtimes the disc will lock up in the system (i.e. you cannot cancel DVD Fab).

Your problems could be in your setting or something else as I haven't had any problems with any Disney movie including The Game Plan as FAB will break the encryption codes just fine, perhaps if you could post a burn log someone could figure it out and also it could be the orignial disc being dirty or scratched causing it to lock up

I just tried to backup NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN with customize onto 2 discs. First disc chapters 1-8 no problem-2nd disc chapters 9-17 went to title 1 and then went to STOP. Would not play! Same procedure with IN THE VALLEY OF ELAH - no problem - both discs played beautifully. Any ideas or suggestions? Is this encryption, software, etc.?

Posting in Red wont get your problem solved any faster. Sometime a poorly pressed disc will lockup your rig. Does it do this with all DVDs?

I'm having a problem with DVDFab Platinum 4.1.0.2. When I try and make an XVid with original 5.1 audio and without cropping of The Bee Movie, DVDFab is crashing. It creates a file that is about 10k and the program closes.

I have done a clean install with reboots and it is still crashing.

Anyone else having problems? I have made about 50 XVids with original 5.1 audio without any problems.

I hope this isn't off-topic or out of line, if it is please direct me to the appropriate thread, I have looked. Is DVD43 working again, standalone? Any info I would appreciate it. When it used to work, I found it to be the most efficient way to go for just "movie only" rips when used in conjunction with DvdShrink. Thanks.

Hi all,
I'm wondering a bit about DVDFab. I remember a time, where all codes in the VIDEO_TS files set correct.
Now it does not give the correct results with two entries:

1) If RC in FABs setting is unchecked, the result is a region free VIDEO_TS.
I did use a uncrypted source from HD, with R2.

2) DVDFab sets most of Prohibited User operations.
Normally should this settings cleared. (Means: nothing prohibited)

Please look at the pic. Maybe this is a reason for some user problems...

Hi,

First of all I like to say thank for creating and constantly updating such a great piece of software.

I have a question and for any of you guys who have experience on the matter by all means please jump in.
I'm usually annoyed with the menus and particularly the advertising found on the BDs and hence would like to back them up without all the garbage. However, with the BD blank media still expansive I was looking to incorporate my PS3 into my home theatre and stream the video from an external USB 2 compatible harddrive. Which, according to the PS3 manual PS3 will stream from no problem.
All sounds very promising but first of all when I experimented with regular DVDs the PS3 does not react just like power DVD which it will play the VOB files in sequence one after the other. Instead, it basically plays the one file selected and then stops. You then have to select the next file to continue on with your movie which is of course annoying and not to mention that you have almost no navigation at all such as chapter skipping and audio / subtitle switching.
In addition I noticed (correct me if I'm wrong) the highest resolution available in the PS3 section of fab is not the high def resolution. Can the creators of Fab or any of you guys possibly suggest how to make a BD backup functional on a PS3 without sacrificing quality? It would probably be a whole lot easier if you could simply install power DVD on the PS3.

Looking forward to reading your comments.
Tom
